Well it's about time I get around to talk about this huge project I have in the works. 1) INTRODUCTION Let me start off by tell you that Beast Wars was and still is my favorite Transformers series. Back when I was a young teen, I would not miss a single episode and everytime a character got a new form I thought they looked glorious! I liked everything about the show and the toys were no exception. (I cannot begin to understand how it went from BW's fantastic toys to Armada's mediocrity). However, looking back today, some of them are actually pretty flawed or show inacurate or simply hindered by ill conceived gimmicks -- I'm looking at you Depthcharge! So, my hopes with this project is to breath a new life in these toys and characters. I've virtually spent hundreds of dollars acquiring figures and countless parts for this project. (Thanks to all the people who contributed, btw!) 2) OBJECTIVES - Repainting some figures in their accurate color-scheme, or a entirely new original one - Improving a toy's overall articulation and appearance by drastically altering parts of the mold - Continuing the series tangent and creating new characters and toys as Fuzors or mythical creature. 3) COMPLETED - G1 Transmetal Megatron - Blackarachnia - Jetstorm 4) IN PROGRESS *** Terrorsaur *** - Completion: 95% - Toy(s) / Part(s) used: Animated Swoop - Description: 05-10-2011: Nearly complete! Just a few minor details to paint and seal. 01-21-2011: Currently painting! It's really taking shape! However I've decided to alter both his hands and feet to make him look even more like his BW self. 01-17-2011: I really wanted to make a great Terrorsaur but his original toy was far too lacking to pull it off so I turned to Animated Swoop. However this figure, as with all Animated toys, has a very stylish, cartoonish and ultra slim look that doesn't quite fit the Beast Wars toyline. And Terrorsaur has a very athletic build in the series so I somehow had to give the figure a more hefty appearance and less cartoonish. You can see below what I've done so far using the miraculous product that is Ares Apoxie. It's still pretty rough but I'm liking it and can already see a much more menacing and intimitading figure... You toughts? *** Retrax *** - Completion: 50% - Toy(s) / Part(s) used: BW Retrax, BW TM2 Megatron, BW Cybershark - Description: Retrax, ridden of all the crappy srping-loaded hinges and silly flappy hands. The beast mode head and tail ends are actually ment to be detached while in robot form, but they can still hold just fine like this as you can see. Gave Retrax ball-jointed ankles to give the figure some much needed stability. Added some facial features to give the character some personality. The original head looked way too dopey. The chest is part of TM2 Megatron which I modified to fit on hinges. The arms are part of Cybershark. This is what it looks like underneath when in beast mode. Some slight improvement of the beast mode. Added a spike on the back to hide the gap left by the missing gimmick pieces. The piece that hides the robot head in beast mode no longer holds to anything so I devised some pegs to hold it into place. I still need to attach the beast leg to the whole thing still. For these 2 pieces, my intention is to have them attached together to create a shield Retrax can hold. I image him as a defence specialist. 5) COMING NEXT - Transmetal Tigartron - Rhinox (Mega size) - Transmetal Scorponok 6) WANT TO CONTRIBUTE? Ideas, suggestions and constructive criticism is always welcome! However if you feel like contributing just a little more, I am always in need of parts and figures, no matter their condition. Anything you can offer will be put to good use!
