I read in another thread that a Japanese repaint of Optimus Primal is due out this year.

Does anyone have any info and/or pics of this item and a release date? Or did I just misunderstand the previous thread?

I think there's a reissue in the vein of the current Takara Tomy reissues (shameless plug - frontpage gallery update) which is due in October.

what does the reissue look like? is it the standard Primal or is it a new repaint?

 

Based on what little I've seen, it's another "show-accurate" repaint, but on the original Primal mold, instead of the version with remolded head/face from the Takara "Beast Wars Reborn" set or Hasbro's BW anniversary reissue from a while back.

I like that but I already have 3 versions of this mold. I'd sell the original & get this one but I probably won't be able to get any $$$ for the original.

Online retailers still have the figures as preorder. Personally I don't think this toy is going to be an instant sold out hot item (haha, I am so bright) so you can shop around
