Is it just me or does anyone else think that the beast wars characters would look cool in the new transformers movie style. I mean since thier aly modes are organic wouldn't it look so cool when they transform all of thier bones and muscles and stuff would move around, and how cool would would they look in robot mode.

    No, no I don't.

Mind you, I don't think the current movie characters look good in the new Transformers movie style.

I'd like to see what someone could do with Dinobot in the movie style. If done correctly, they could look more badass than the TF's in the film. There's alot of people that love the movie designs, and the movie designs are really inventive for artists look for innovation. It's harder than drawing a boxy Prime anyway. lol

The new movie style really reminds me of Vehicons with Earth Alt-modes. Now seeing as toy wise Beast wars and Beast Machines were my least favorite lines, I should be able to give my wallet a rest for Botcon this summer.

    They would look horrid.

Beastformers are the G1 cartoon Aesthetic applied to animals. That's it.

Applying the movie aesthetic to BW would be horrid - they would be strange skeleton things with random organic bits cut up so small they don't really resemble the animal anymore splorched around it, twisted around it and would look generally quite creepy. The robot modes would look like someone took a razor to some Transtech designs.

I don't think the designs look that organic. I don't think they look that much like Transtech either - Transtech had a lot of strong, bold thick undivided areas reminiscant of Japanese robos and not Hollywood trash, just a litle more EVA style than Gundam or Macross lke G1 Formers, like with Prime and Megatron for instance, the movie designs have no real undivided surfaces in an attempt to up the detail level to try and make them look more realistic without trying(Alternator styled robos should look more realistic in theory because we identify better with things we're familiar with like truck fronts or large parts of cars, this is only true if you have a very good level of CG so you can render a convincing car, if you can't, making it more freakish is a better idea, so it leads me to believe ILM weren't as ready to do this as people thouht). The level of complexity and twistiness does mean they look more organic, and they are more human proportioned too despite what the THEY LOOK MORE ALIEN crowd are saying.

I think the Movie aesthetic would be cool for Vehicons though.

I agree, as much as I adore the movie designs (pure awesome), BW characters would look grotesque.

I know, only two are beasts, but Beast Machines designs were not unlike some of the movie designs, at least, as far as having claws and creepy, non-human faces.

EDIT: Bad links. Well, BM Buzzsaw and Hammerstrike were what I wanted to point out, basically.

I've actually given this a fair amount of thought. I doubt Beast Wars characters in the movie style would actually have real organic skin. If anything they'd be fully robotic animals with an outer "holographic" shell that looks like skin and hair, etc. It would disappear when they transform or there's no longer a need for disguise. The difficulty is making them look like they transform into something in robot mode since animals have a lot fewer identifiable features that would remain in robot mode, like wheels and treads. That sort of thing.

Hmm. Now I'm thinking I should revisit my attempts at BW/BM movie style characters. I started working on Jetstorm and I just stopped. I dunno why.

You sure have been thinking about.
I really like that idea of yours with them having holographic fur .etc instead of actually been organic. It makes more sence than actually been organic, which when i now think about it would look pretty grotesque.
