What did the transformers in the beast wars eat? Energon or animal food or both since they were both machines and animal. It would also mean they would also deposit waste like animals if they ate like the regular earth creatures?

Well Dinobot ate his clone, and we see them eat apples and fruits, and Rhinox ate wild beans. Tarantulas ate mice and gazelle. About the wastes, we seen them burp and fart.

Well, the Maximals ate a combination of energon nuts and berries but had to be careful as the berries often gave them the runs.
As for the Predacons, they ate energon meat such as Jack Links beef jerky and such. But they had to make sure to chew thoroughly as they could choke.

Just like TFs of G1, BW characters, when transformed, were fully functioning representations of what their Alt modes were.

Energon was where they got their energy from. I think eating real animals and food was an impulse of their alternate forms.

Oh, you think so? Well, how about the fact that their beast modes were fully-functioning representations of animals also means they were capable and more than likely drawn towards SEXUAL ACTIVITY. OOH!

Well Megatron ate alot of ho-hos and Prime was a vegetarian.
Rattrap would sneak off and eat snickers , Cheetor was hooked on Hot Pockets, Rhinox likes Chinese.
Black Arachnia was hooked on chocolate becasue Silverbolt was a minute-wolf, Rampage likes fish sticks, Tigertron ate grass (moron), Waspinator ate rocks (becasue Terrorsaur said it was hush puppies) , Terrorsaur ate McDonalds, Scorponok just drank beer and Airazor liked gummy worms.

Prime realized how good meat and candy was by the end of Armada. He tried working out for Energon but did'nt have enough time to get in shape.
