I got Lio Convoy today. There's a little play wear, and yellowing, but nothing too serious. It's actually in really good shape. He just looks like my cat when she needs a bath.

 

yeah I am ready for some flaky chrome on that one... he's probably one of the last one's that I want.

Fox Kids Tarantulas and TM2 Blackarachnia top the want list right now!

 

Transmetal Tarantulas (the regular deco) is on the top of my Beast Wars want list. I saw a Fox Kids one pop up for $75 sealed on ebay the other day in my daily search for a good TM Tarantulas, but none since.

 

I got a deal on eBay for TM 2 Megs for $25.

I've decided not to buy POTP Optimal Optimus.

Don't worry, the decision came as a shock to me as well.

At the end of the day, that's what I want from Generations figures, and I just don't get the feeling that it is.

 

and this is why i feel beast wars is best suited at this point for the master piece, to beat the season 1 Megatrons toy they had to jack the price up something wicked, can you ever see that being done in the classics line, we do have some low hanging fruit left that they could do in classics e.g terrorsaur, trantulas, maybe even scorp, but it starts getting much harder outside of season 1 toys for current era to hold up at all to what the beast wars toys are

 

I think it's just too hard to compete with the original at $50.. which is sad if you think about it. Because $50 is not an insignificant amount of money to throw at a toy. I mean.. that's more than half a Triple A game.

What do you think the price point would be if they reissued the original? Looking at these $200 Unicrons and $190 Air Attacks just has to make you wonder. They just don't make toys with the same heft to them as they did back then! I am willing to bet.. that a true reissue would probably be in that $150-$200 range which is just stupid.

I think if they paid more attention to the design of Optimus Primal and not "hey guys lets make a backpack primal and a suit of armor/gorilla combine" then we probably wouldn't be having this conversation now.

 

hell just think about it like this.. primal had 4 modes... gorilla, robot, jet, car.

Um... wheres the car mode hasbro? that's like making an astrotrain without the astro or without the train...

 

thats kind of a poor argument though considering the new one technically does more, he has
little bot mode (can work as a pre earth primal)
shuttle/surfboard mode
gorilla mode
jet mode
combined robot mode

plus if you get the dna kit his car mode is restored giving him a total of 6 modes

personally i dont care if bw generations are "better", id rather have reinvented versions of the characters over trying to replicate and outdo their older versions

 

Still think it should have been a little gorilla in a big gorilla suit and not a dumb box.
Needless to say I'm getting one to toss in the closet. Just to say "even at its worst, I still supported Beast Wars"
I actually like the SDCC deco... I think I'd be less disappointed if that was the retail deco. So I'm going to try for that one, And that'll be the one I display.

 

yes it can do more... but at the cost of the "evolution" gimmick.

In certain ways the figure is better than the original. Removable cannons, a spark chamber that isn't just an empty chair, better articulation, no chrome (to flake off in the future)..

but you have to wonder what it could be if they just removed the gimmick and just gave us a proper leader class. I guess we'll never know.



Still probably getting it and the DNA kit to go on my POTP shelf.

 

true, it could have possibly been better, but honestly i appreciate them for trying something different. growing up i always loved super modes so i think the evolution gimmick is cool, plus in all honesty the potp leaders are the best value that leaders have been since the size class was introduced (aside from maybe the sixshot or overlord molds), whether we adults think the evolution gimmick works or not

 

Why are there no terrorsaur figures on ebay becies the transmetal ones. The only non transmetal is MOC for $100 which is cool but I am not spending that much for something I want to play with and transform and pose...

 

hmm.. they pop up every now and then. definitely don't pay $100 for a sealed basic class! Unless its the Takara CG accurate one.

have you looked for a BW Lazorbeak? BW Neo Hydra? AOE Strafe? Dinobots Terranotron? the later two might be your ticket to experience the mold for cheap while you wait for an original one to pop up.

does anybody know if the dealer exclusive 1996 Onyx Primal has a stamp on the actual toy... or just a stamp on the bag that he is stored in?

Looking at maybe offering something for this one... but I know I want to display it... so I am thinking I should save some money and get the non dealer exclusive.
