We heard you the first time(s).
My collection so far. A few missing pieces but still great figures.
Hah, speaking of GPS, here comes the Prince of GPS, second only to Randy!
Still no signs of GPS here.
What's that bot anyway?
Beast Machines Snarl.
New rumor by seth from the Masterpiece thread, pretty worrying for the BW MP line if true:
Well they aren't exactly hitting the accelerator on BW MPs as is with one "new" a year. At least they must be doing enough business to make the repaints worthwhile so hopefully we could still get a New mold in 2019, because all that reads like no news is good news for BW to me.
as long as dinobot come out without problems, we'll be fine.
Seth don’t know nothin’!
Now, time to check out that thread and see what the hell’s going on and probably read countless geewunner comments gleefully celebrating the potential demise of our beloved line.
Looking more closely at the ebay auctions, I was wrong about the sealed item. I first saw this auction:
Optimal Optimus Hasbro Breast Wars TransMetals Kenner | eBay
Went for under $70, but I thought it was sealed, not just boxed, but guess it's just boxed.
But a complete loose original OpOp can be had for around $70.
Transformers Beast Wars Transmetal 2 Optimal Optimus COMPLETE OOP NICE Near MInt | eBay
Given the new one will be $45 to $50 on the shelf, I don't think $70 is a ridiculous price and not "readily available".
I definitely didn't claim a MISB BW OpOp for $50. But clarification on the prices above.
Your Shockwave/Jetfire comparison... oooh... wow... there are a handful of G1 toys with "decent" articulation that don't need updates so then of course no other G1 figure does either!
The different articulation in OpOp to me is not a significant improvement in articulation, does not impress me. If it impresses you, great for you.
$70 for an old, used toy, often with flaking chrome and busted electronics? No thanks.
Likewise, the fact that many BW era toys have decent articulation doesn't mean that there aren't many that need updates. Just look at BM Cheetor, every single version has articulation compromised by the gimmicks. Or Hammerstrike, who doesn't even have elbows.
And i didn't even meant all G1 toys, I clearly mentioned updates to these two specific toys dunno where you got all G1 toys from.
To each their own, I guess. Though I'd appreciate if people didn't piss on my parade so much when I like an official toy.
That is so ironic too, they will probably try to point to the fact that Beast Wars joined the MP mainline as the potential reason for the fall in sales despite the fact that almost all of the MP releases were Gen One. We got Primal and Cheetor in 2016, and will get Panther and Ol' Chopper Face(Rat Trap's impression intended, LOL) later this year or early next, so they can't possibly blame these reasons as why the MP line isn't moving like crazy. Besides, if they want to celebrate a victory, that would be pretty premature as according to the post Tak-To will focus on the movie MP line above the rest. And I am pretty sure they may hate the Bayverse Transformers more than they hate the Transformers lines that aren't Generation One.
Well it all sounds like common sense to me to be honest. As 'big bucks' characters start to dwindle so does interest, you can only diversify so far before you start hitting a wall in terms of returns on investment. MP's are getting more complex and more expensive while the pool of A list characters is near depleted, this results in poorer sales than they'd like. Inferno and Sunstreaker are hardly A list, and with Jazz seemingly stick in some sort of licensing limbo where is there to go? Even Blaster isn't the big ticket release his tape-mate Soundwave was. TT will want to recapture that buzz they got of the back of MP-10...so the obvious answer is to do another Convoy, which will hopefully reinvigorate interest in the line by providing (another) new 'jumping on point' for new fans much like MP-10 did. Plus it opens the door to new or updated versions of other previously released characters along side anything a little less commercial they may have planned. Beast Wars is a niche market, I doubt it can sustain many and/or frequent releases. I'd love to see more BW moulds at higher frequency but if a snail's pace is what's needed to get what I want so be it. Personally I'm still shocked and in awe of what they've done so far. I had serious doubts we'd ever see BW MPs let alone 3 of them! Hopefully we will see a Megatron before they run out of steam, it would be a real shame not to get him at the very least.
$90 total is the most I have EVER spent on a figure and that 90 dollar figure was a Japanese exclusive so 70 for a USA figure is way too much for me, no telling if it works or what issues it will have because with used toys issues are guaranteed. I have had the original Optimal and while fun, in my personal opinion POTP blows it out of the water overall and in my area leaders are usually 39.99 but sales and discounts are plentyful. POTP Optimal Optimus Primal Prime is the best Primal figure ever!
One of my favourites, Jetstorm:
This just arrived.
So much for sleep. Sorry honey
Love this guy so much. If only he didn't have all that orange, he'd be perfect. Manterror's the same way.
