Thanks for the advice. I think for now I'll just leave it be.
Once upon a time, I’d be supremely jealous of this.
Not anymore! Feels good, man. I’m also thinking about getting the Japanese Blackarachnia to really, truly complete my show cast using original moulds. But Magnaboss still hasn’t left my thoughts...
Crazy Beast Wars Theory #538:
Sea Clamp was originally designed as a scorpion but was changed to a crawfish when Mega Scorponok was developed, so they didn't double-up on the same creature.
Being a scorpion, he'd fit more with the insectoid theme of the combiner, and the transformation would essentially be the same. Perhaps the only difference would be the potential for the scorpion stinger to have loomed over Tripredacus' head in combined mode.
I'd even go as far to say that he would have originally had the name Scorponok as well, and his fellow members of Tripredacus would have also had G1 names. This would mirror Magnaboss being made up of Prowl, Ironhide and Silverbolt. When Sea Clamp was changed, the other names were changed, too.
Go on, it's a wonderful set, .
What's the estimated release date on this? Summer or Winter 2018, I can't remember...
I love it except the all Grey cockpit. The “deluxe” primals bot mode is reminiscent of the t beast design in my opinion
Damn that's good looking.
It's awesome--but the grey cockpit is just killing my desire for it.
I guess I'll hold my cards and see if they release a "premium" deco down the road--maybe they'd actually "Transmetalize" it with some chrome.
One can hope!
Guess I'll be the first to say that I don't really like it.
Maybe my feelings will change when I see it in person, but so far its a no for me. Might actually spend the extra money on Beast Gorirra instead for a better looking figure. : (
I really like the whole sculpt and gimmick here, but I agree with feeling a bit put off by the abundance of grey plastic. I think this is definitely a case where a few orange reprolabels will make it looks fantastic.
Throwing in my agreement for not liking the Grey cockpit
FWIW, slightly sharpened and tried to correct for glare and "naturalize" the color a bit.
I'd suggest maybe these aren't final paint apps (referring to the Deluxe's hands and feet,) but after they released an Optimus with grey instead of blue hands I won't hope for that. Still happy about him, ugly kibble and weird colors and all, though.
They’re final, the cg renderings they released show optimal with the grey cockpit unfortunately
Silverback Gorilla Silverfront Robot.
