Think of the predacon programming more as a type of brainwashing

Again a lot of that isn’t explicitly stated in the show, it’s just logical conclusions I’ve made based on watching both shows :)

I'd say it's definitely a form of brainwashing. I definitely don't think that the reprogramming necessarily creates a full personality change. Blackarachnia for instance didn't really change much after being freed from her Predacon shell program.

In Rhinox case, I think his reprogramming by Megatron in Beast Wars was a bit different than the shell program used on protoforms, which could explain his seemingly drastic change in personality. Although I feel a bit that some part of that change may have been an already present aspect of his personality that was twisted and amplified by that Predacon programming.

Exactly, the brainwashing form of reprogramming (rhinox, vehicons) seems to take an aspect of them and twist and amplify it, rhinox becomes extremely violent, silverbolt sadistic, waspinator becomes competent, obsidian and strika had their loyalty to cybertron taken to an illogical extreme etc etc

The brainwashing idea definitely makes more sense. I just wish the show itself could have made it more clear. But brainwashing or not, I was never a fan of how Rhinox became a villain in Beast Machines. That and the otherwise darker tone of the show are why my headcanon places Beast Machines in an alternate timeline than Beast Wars. BM is just too much of a departure from BW IMHO.

Nah they'll do Tigatron MP justice.
I have a feeling Shadow Panther will be the straight Cheetor repaint. And I'm okay with that.

At this point I don't care what they repaint these MP BW figures into. I'm buying them. I really want Burning Convoy, but would prefer Shadow Panther next.
I'm hopeful we get a Grimlock from Dinobot.

Hey friends, I finally was able to get my hands on some of the beast limbs from PotP and I just posted the first custom:

    Minor/Repaint: - PotP Terrorsaur

I'm currently working on a pretty cool idea (in my opinion) for a BW combiner. Terrorsaur was the first limb for this guy, mainly because I like the character and outside of the club, he's been under-represented and it was an obvious choice with the molds we have available. Let me know what you think, and thanks for taking a look.

Last time I looked the club Depth Charge was dirt cheap on their website.
That said, I think the only one I don't have is Universe version. Wouldn't mind picking it up eventually.

    That looks great!!!

Wait! Hang on, can't we say that rhinox evil side had already existed from the start and that it was foreshadowed in "dark designs"?

Pred reprogramming and shell programming is clearly different and Beast Wars showed that in that one episode rhinox turned into a predacon.

I believe the pred reprogramming completely flips personality, every aspect of a maximal's identity gets over-turned, making them the complete opposite of what they used to be.

Silverbolt was heroic and liked saving people, maximal and pred alike. Hence when he was reprogrammed he was sadistic and couldn't care less of other beings' lives. Rhinox was passive majority of the time and didn't want to lead, and in dark designs after being reprogrammed, he became extremely violent and wanted to get rid of megatron so he can lead.

If I recall, thrust was indecisive and got half-swayed by blackarachnia into not following megatron, hence she believed he was silverbolt. But he was waspinator and it makes sense now because due to the reprogramming(I believe megatron did it to all three, even waspinator, right? I don't remember) waspinator's undoubted loyalty as shown in BW, even though megatron never appreciated it, would have been flipped so he would have a sense of "indecisive-ness" (less loyal?) when being persuaded by the maximals to "come back to them".

But reprogramming doesn't change some aspects of the character,as shown with rhinox in dark designs when he was evil, with him still talking in a calm (yet menacing) way just like he would normally (with the menacing part).

Okay, i'm definitely going to rewatch beast machines. I believe my mind as a child couldn't really grasp the many (now that I think about it) brilliant connected dots here and there.
