And like Optimus, the smaller robot doesn't actually turn into what they were *before* being a Prime.
People need to stop looking at this as an Optimus Primal that turns into Optimal Optimus and realize it's an Optimal Optimus that comes with a bonus Primal.
These are essentially modern Mega Pretenders. Large robots that turn into a vehicle, which includes a smaller figure that forms part of the overall alt-mode.
... i think this is a good compromise unless they want a screen accurate version of the morphing* prime lol .
They probably *could* have done a more biological gorilla that rode inside a larger gorilla...but judging from the early prototypes they leverage the inner robot's surfboard mode to allow Optimal to have both his jet mode and a mode that references the Transmetal body.
So while it may not be the choice everyone wanted, it's a choice that opens up the door to more play options. What'll be interesting is if the Optimal figure is a straight recreation of the original or one that looks closer to Earth Wars.
Earth wars ? They only have primal unless there's a update I didn't see, from the game . And thankfully imo they didn't use that haha.
I still love that there's a update for opop. Sold my original awhile back and skipped gorira , hope they do the face better.
I'm saying there's a non-zero chance they take the Optimal body but give it a paint job that looks more like his Earth Wars body. Less orange/blue and more blacks/grey.
Hmm I can't say I love that , because I prefer his iconic orange and blue colour scheme in optimal optimus . But surely if they do black/grey .. it'll be the usual Tokyo toy show lol
Who is that coming with?
Just saw it. That little guy might be the tipping point in me getting ol' Archforce!
The titan master looks to be BW Megs too, or at least painted to look like him. I was going to buy the set and sell the G2 megs, but it's going to make me keep the whole thing so I can have another titanmaster head of BW megs. Damn Takara.
I actually have those for sale. LOL.
Well I'm currently jobless, but looks to be rectified within a week.
Are they in good condition? What would your price be? They aren't exactly on my priority list but I'd still like to get them at some point.
BW Megs won the Villains Smackdown at HasCon.
He beat Shockwave, Soundwave, Devastator, Predaking and Starscream.
Let me dig them out and I'll send you a PM
I fucking love it.
Do you have a link to something about this?
Seibertron have a video of the event.
A very interesting part of the clip is some Q and A at the end. A question was asked of Vinnie D'Alleva, Chief Brand Officer, in regards to the "dark times":
When I first came to Hasbro, I came to work on Transformers, and uh, I worked on the tail-end when it was Micromasters, Powermasters and kind of the tail-end of that. Um, and then I moved on to GI Joe and then later on I came back, and uh, led a team that was focusing on what do we do with Transformers going forward. And we had a designer called Chris Gross who had been working on uh, uh, several different kinds of iterations of Transformers for the future. And the uh, this cheetah that we came up with, that ended up becoming Cheetor, uh, really connected with us, with management, and with kids that we showed it to. And uh, so, we actually thought it was going to be part of a line, not the whole line, uh, and Transformers was so disenfranchised with our retailers that when you look at that packing, you can see that it says Beast Wars *makes large gesture* with Transformers this big *makes small gesture*, because management didn't even want to call it Transformers, so, uh, that's how bad it was, it just had to have, sort of a whole restart, to get it started.
A good bit of first-hand info there to shove down the throat of a Geewunner next time they're on their high-horse.
