Gots an email from BBTS and i was wondering about their prices.
    here's a quote:
And the price for TFA Wreck-Gar:

I really like BBTS and think that they are the premier online seller for TFs and other toys.
but don't those prices seem excessive?

i bought most of my TFU collection from them and paid maybe 3 or so bucks more (before S&H) than i would have at Walmart, which i was okay with.

just wondering about the markup and if anyone has noticed it.

Yea, I noticed it as well all due to demand and if they can get people to pay that well good for them. I am looking for a Wreckgar but not that bad BBTS has always been like this which is why I will not order thru them.

It is a bit crazy, my PoL is at over $600 right now. I have all 3 leader figs in there, but I bought the OP and Megs package and Jetfire separately. If I cancel them and rebuy the same figs packaged differently, I save $15. It's a little odd.

    Bad Timing....

I used to do business with BBTS but the amount they are charging for figures,(not to mention shipping and handling),has gone up WAY too much in the last 2 years and the amount they offer for buying/trading isnt enough to cover the cost to send it and get anything decent in return. You would think they would lower the prices to get more business but for what it costs,I might as well buy stuff off e-pay.

I'm a pretty regular customer of theirs, but lately their mark-up has seemed a bit over the top. Even on stuff that's fairly easy to find in stores.

I've mostly bought some stuff that I really couldn't find anywhere else and was willing to pay a bit of a mark-up for--which is pretty much why anyone usually buys from them.:D

I have long thought BBTS is too expensive, but even moreso recently.

As long as we're bitching about BBTS, their estmated arrival dates are usual a total crock. I preordered Encore: #17 (Cassette Big Mission 2) back in May, when it had a "June" arrival date. Then around July 5th, they finally updated it to say "July." So am I ever going to recieve this thing, or should I look forward to it saying "August" in 10 days or so?

And it's like this about half the time, minimum.

I think Encore 17 has a release date of July 25th in Japan, to be fair. So be looking for it I would think by the beginning of August.

This just proves my point-- some guy on the internet is better at estimating a proper ship date than they are? They need to do what we do where I work, which is "under-promise, over-deliver." Tell me October, so I'll be thrilled when it arrives in August. Not the other way around.

As long as Hasbro ships multiple toys in the same wave, some which sell great, others which don't, smaller organizations like BBTS will have to make up part of their costs by charging more for the hot items. If they were able to buy (for example) an entire case of just the ice cream twins, I think their pricing would reflect a little closer to what we're accustomed to seeing at the stores.

That said, I don't really consider BBTS a good value when it comes to purchasing items available at standard US retail anyway.

I buy a lot of crap from them, but I don't understand why anyone uses them for regular retail items, like Lugnut, Wreck Gar, or leader OP. They are available through Hasbrotoyshop, Amazon and toys r us. If not right at this moment, they were or will be shortly.

Well, in a way, Toywiz have been doing the same thing for years - just on a much more extreme level. I just hope BBTS don't follow Toywiz's precedent & become fully-fledged scalpers because that would be... :mad

I just got the Wave 4 set of Deluxes from them for $52 tossed in my pile of loot, that's basically what retail charges so I'm not complaining. Yeah, there's a markup on stuff. Gotta keep in mind that they aren't any major retail chain though, they've gotta work a little harder for their money.

And honestly? I've never had ANY problems with BBTS. Their stuff always comes in promptly, and they get it out in great condition despite going the UPS route. I'm comfortable spending a couple extra dollars here and there considering the amazing track record they've had with me as a customer.

Awsome, saw your post and checked my email and I too have the ROTF Wave 4 Deluxes in my POL, which was about what reatil now costs. When Big Cassete Mission 2 is in I wil ship.

And I agree I have never had an issue with shipping or anything from BBTS. Some of there prices are a bit higher and over priced. $30 for G1 Wheelie? But there is another major movie out now for Transformers and prices for Transformers may be a little higher as some people try and get one they had as a kid. Wait for the movie to die down and prices will normalize again.

Actually BBTS had a set of ROTF Deluxe Wave 4 priced at $51.99. If you were to purchase all four of ROTF Deluxe Wave 4 from Hasbro Toy Shop you would pay $51.96 ($12.99 * 4). So BBTS overpriced themselves by $0.03 on this one. So not everything BBTS is selling is overly marked up.

Of course BBTS is over priced . . . but people still buy from them! In defense to BBTS, why not mark the prices up?

BBTS is my favorite store to buy from simply because they are an excellent store. They ship their products fast, they arrive in GREAT condition, and they're trustworthy. Buying retail stuff from them can mean more money though.

The only thing I have on order from them is Starscream's Ghost. They are competitive with exclusive overseas toys like this, but I'm able to find everything else at brick & mortar or other online sites for less. It would be a different story if I lived in a rural area or outside the US.

These "extreme" mark ups usually come in later waves of toylines. BBTs orders toys by the case not individual. While everybody may want the hot new toy in an assortment BBTS is gonna get stuck with 4 or 5 units of toys we already have. They mark up the new toys to offset the crap they are gonna get stuck with.
