LoL can totally hear him saying " here he is in bot mode and he....is.....glorious."

 

He did not like it much as he stated what most think....this is a poor ass rendition of swipe and is of no use to the community. I mean as a figure he said it is sturdy and is made of quality materials, but yeah. ...mp12 is far superior.

 

I used to not like him because everything was glorious and he never seemed too critical of anything. I don't know if it's because now I've seen more of his videos, or if he's starting to become a little more critical, but he doesn't seem to throw glitter showers for e.v.e.r.y s.i.n.g.l.e. figure anymore. He still a super positive guy, and I think that's awesome, but I'm starting to see him give better critiques lately, and find myself watching his videos more.

 

I don't like the figure, but I love that head for MP Sideswipe, the wider face looks better with the wide chest, and it is more cartoony. I'd like to be able to get that head alone and swap over the official.
I can't understand why Takara did not remold the face for the toon accurate color reissue, to fit MP Sunstreaker.

 

I'd buy this for $15. Just for the accessories.

I never hated Sideswipe's head until I played Devastation.

 

Is it bad I really kind of want this, cause I think it would be good for trying a custom, as it would be my first time? Maybe repaint some little details and such. It's inexpensive and has a good head sculpt.

Yeah...it's an idea that also crossed my mind....but $50.....that is quite a bit to pay for a fig you may ruin. Heck you can get a ko mp12 for 35 bucks off tf-direct. Now if it was like 15- 20...then sure.

 

He was sent it by (if I remember correctly) TF-Direct to review. He didn't pay a dime for it. Nor did it sound like he wanted to. He didn't sound very happy talking about it, and fully acknowledged the shady origin of the figure too. I'll be honest, I had my concerns going into the review but I think he was fairly down on it and yet still tried to make the best of a bad situation. That is to say, I think his review was quite fair.

They DID remould it... just not the helmet, unfortunately.

There are far cheaper figures you can get to make your first custom with. I certainly wouldn't start with this thing.

 

Did they?   I see MP12+ face as ugly as the old one.

 

Depends who you ask but it's definitely a new face. Notice the defined lips.

 

I don't recall toon Sideswipe having Overlord's lips, so that's a very odd remold if so.

 

I think it's meant to be a smile... or something. I dunno.

But actually, I'm not sure if they did change the face. It's REALLY hard to tell.

And while there MAY be a difference, I'm not sure. I don't have a G1 MP Sideswipe so I can't compare him to the MP-12+ photos. The more I look at different images, the less I'm actually sure if they're different or not. The mouth seems like it could be different, but I'm not sure.

 

I still can't believe they aren't including a jetpack with the new toon color Sideswipe.

 

I think that definitely would've pushed a few more units if they included that.

 

what i don't get is why they did not make any actual changes to the mold. I mean it say that they did....but I can' see them. so I have little interest in paying like $80 for a repaint of a fig I can get for like $50-60 online.

 

Would it be possible to use the head on MP Sideswipe? I remember that I tried to customize a Tigertrack...and ended up scratching the helmet badly.

 

They retooled it so I could transform from Sideswipe to breakdown did they not? I'm pretty sure the XTB one doesn't do that. I think its a pretty cool feature. He can sneak in disguised as breakdown to the deception shelf.

 

For me personally though, I missed out on the original MP-12 Sideswipe so I'm all in on MP-12+. I just wish they wouldn't sacrifice so many details for cartoon accuracy (such as the Lamborghini badge being absent, or more specifically, unpainted, or the rear of the car being black). A new head would have been nice but I'm OKAY with the existing one. I like the helmet, just not how far back the face is set.

The head is very hard to access on that mould. You have to first remove the chest which is held in by screws and pins, or at least remove the pins for the entire chest piece and head piece, and then you can access the head from there, at which point you still have to deal with another pin.

It's not really worth it, to be honest.
