Great work, BBS, and good work on the Mayhem Squad, too. BBS: On the other hand, it probably did have some problems...
Pony Trek On his latest visit to the USS Enterprise, Q decided to give Captain Jean-Luc Picard an unique trip to Equestria... modifying their appearance as well, of course, to not the spook the locals of Ponyville. The captain is not too thrilled, but I think Q has a point... it is after all, the mission of the Enterprise to learn about new races and cultures. Why not ponies?
Let's hope he hasn't met Rainbow Dash yet. The universe would probably explode from the sheer coolness factor.
Hokey... this one needs explanation. Remember my "The Unicorn Cometh!" comic? It was based on the fact that in the second (around 1990) hungarian dubbing of the 1986 Transformers Movie, the poor Chaos-Bringer got re-named into a sparkly pony (hey, he has horns). But that was only the second hungarian dub of the movie. There was a first. It was far, far worse... They sometimes translated the names, sometimes left them in english, and other times... just made-up odd things. The Deceptitoads is one of the most jarring translation... mistakes? I cannot even call it a mistake. Flukes, maybe. Basically, in the first dub, the Decepticons are referred to throughout the movie as The TOADS. This makes listening to certain scenes quite hilarious. And I just had to draw one. May Primus have mercy on my soul... Translation is: - "Look, Fishing Rod! It has a hole in it's side!" - "What?!" - "TOADS!" Yes, Hot Rod became... Fishing Rod. Devastator is "The Mega-Robot" and Astrotrain was mistranslated at one point as "Jettison" (when they dump out Megatron). Here is a part (including this scene) from the hungarian version: http://indavideo.hu/video/Transformers_1986_magyarulreszlet3
ALL GLORY TO THE DECEPTITOADS!!! Also, love the little Ravage tadpole. EDIY: Why does Soundwave have Kamina glasses? He doesn't get those until Animated.
Thanks everyone! I just felt it'd look good on him. And given the bulgy large eyes, regular glasses would not fit him.
Welcome to the Pond, Autobots. Hope you got Fish'n Rod ready for this year's fishing season... because your stay here's gonna be a hoppin' long one! *Ribbit! Ribbit!* As for thoughts about Sucker Punch... hafta agree. Bludgeon should reassign himself as Heavy Gunner. And what the girls in the madhouse lacked in... *ahem* coverage, they make up for their open minds. Right now, the moment I think about it, I'm joinin' the girls as a Transformer...
Heh, too true! I wonder if they will release those giant evil samurai armor as toys, maybe by NECA or Hot Toys. Would make an awesome G1 Bludgeon repainted...
Well, one evening, I was discussing DOTM Laserbeak with fellow Hungarian TF fan Goroh999 on our message board, and while I compared the little bulgy-eyed birdy to Beaky Buzzard from Looney Tunes, he linked me to this video as a comparison! I immediately pictured Ravage and Laserbeak sitting on that branch afterwards... And that's how this drawing came to be. For the record, if the style of the Dirdy Birdy cartoon looks familiar - it should, it was done by John R. Dilworth, creator of Courage the Cowardly Dog, he did two such short cartoons before creating Courage. Man, I love DOTM Laserbeak and his adorable huge bulgy eyes.
