Here is an article where they call it a reboot and say that Bay is reimagining transformers.

We'll see. Everyone throws the terms around to mean whatever they want them to mean at any given moment rather than as what they actually mean. We're probably more than a year away from finding out if the new movie actually will be a reboot or not.

I'm guessing this one will tear out all the stereotypes about the films so far, and build things from the ground up. It will be the same continuity, just a different feel. Also, since almost all the cons are dead, they'll need to bring in new ones. They are reimagining quite a big part of the cast in that case.

Or maybe they just don't want to say "reboot" as that might be kind of curse word to some.

... Wasn't the first trilogy a "reimagining" enough?

Not really. Autobots vs Decepticons, bringing their war to Earth, disguising as vehicles, Prime vs Megatron....

....you know? If Bay drops all of those elements in doing another movie? It could potentially be interesting.

A reimagining means RE-imagining things that have previously existed in the movies, interpreting and introducing them in a new way. For example: the Cylons in the original Battlestar Galactica series being robots created by an alien race out to wipe out humanity for no real reason, versus the RE-IMAGINED Battlestar Galactica series where the Cylons were humanity's own creations who rose up and rebelled for their freedom. You still have a human versus Cylon dynamic, but the entire concept has been reimagined from the ground up.

If they're talking about adding new concepts and new characters to the fourth TF movie, that's not RE-imagining, that's just IMAGINING.

They'll head to G1 Season 3 for material, minus that part where Prime dies ;)

Drop the "Transformers" name too, while we're at it.

Galvatron, Gigatron, Overlord, I don't care. I just get drunk before I see movies nowadays.

Twins still gone, Shia Gone, Bumblebee gone or actually able to speak, is that too much to ask. Oh more, didn't care for the wreckers much either.

Hey, re-imagining, maybe he is gonna go G2. Bring on Rapido please!

Reimagining could mean pretty much anything. It's a very ambiguous and open to interpretation kind of term. Doesn't always mean reboot. We'll have to wait and see, but seeing as Bay is attached to the project, I can only imagine this being on-par, if not worse, than what DotM was.

I think it's because some people get so upset over the word "reboot" that they decided to use "re-imagined" to cut down on the rage of fans who would be swearing already they will never watch another live action film if it was rebooted.

I just don't see how you could re-imagine something and keep it 100% the same with no changes at all.

Yeah, maybe in the reboot Transformers aren't aliens but rather robots created by humans to fight wars they don't want to fight themselves.

Or maybe they could reboot it using the REAL G1 story line and it could be very very kick ass

With Bay remaining in the director's chair, any hope for a true re-imagining is a pipe dream.

I think it'll be a prequel. Will the casual moviegoer/child now, remember who the core cast from DOTM was 2 years from now? Plus a lot of the core members were killed. Their deaths don't mean much if they come back, in the same continuity. Hence why I think it'll be a reboot.
