Lately Ive been seeing trailers and commercials for Battle: LA and it kinda looks like a copy off of Transformers. I mean, it look like robots that crash on earth and transform into space ships. What do you guys think?

I don't think it's a rip off when you see the movie, but the commericals are totally TRYING to make it look like Transformers so people will see it.

I haven't seen robots in any of the ads, much less transforming ones. Just spaceships flying around.

I'm more disappointed that a true, freaky unexplained event has apparently been bastardized into a terribly cliche "US army VS evil aliens" movie. Sigh...

    It sure is.
Though I wanted to know how the aliens' leaders would react to our imprisonment of their people in that movie, but it left the answer as a cliffhanger. Oh well.

You know what movie really ripped on TF's style? Terminator: Salvation.

If anything, it's more a ripoff of "The Returner."

I got a ROTF vibe from it, but what would you expect, Transformers is now a reference to "awesome".

When I first seen the previews of Battle LA, it reminded me of the Chicago battle scene in DOTM.

I get the impression from the trailers that there is one significant difference with those movies though:
the US army looks like it will lose in Battle: LA.

Same here, all I saw was one big freaking robot in Salvation and people jumped all over it calling it a TF rip off...

As for Battle LA, I've been pumped for this movie so long I really don't mind if it does have a bit of TFish feel too it. Aaron Eckhart is the man!!

The only think that seemed like a TF ripoff to me was the commercial has the same alarm/buzzing as the DotM Super Bowl commercial.

I don´t think so. From what I´ve been reading the battle is more or less a stalemate on the ground (and the humans can harm the aliens) and the aliens have a slight upperhand in the air (doens´t stop the humans tho).

Yes because TF has never copied anything *cough* Star Wars *cough* or ever been under a different name *cough* Diaclone & Micromaster *cough*.

Take it as a complement to the influence this series has on other films.

I really think the Skyline previews made it seem more like a TF ripoff than the Battle LA previews have made it look TFish. Though it sounds like there's a mess of messes between Skyline and Battle LA on use of the models, and neither actually turned out to be TF rips.
