Did this up as a present for my gf. Was harder than I expected it to be, given that the new thing with the new daleks is that they look so shiny and clean. The paint just seemed to slide off the red, so I found myself having to chip the red away before I could get the paint to stick. The silver bits are supposed to represent panels that have come off and been replaced. My rust effect still needs a lot of work, but I'm quite happy with how this turned out. I mainly used Citadel paints for this custom (mythril silver and chaos black). The brass and browns were Revell paints.
EX-TER-MI-NATE! EX-TER-MI-NATE! Love it dude! Nice job! Awesome your GF loves the Doc, a sign of very good taste!
I haven't watched Doctor Who since I was a kid, thanks Destron I think it was the British accents that stumped me on how to say it correctly.
Not bad at all for someone unused to weathering effects. If you're having problems with paint adhesion, I'd recommend one of two things- going over the surface with a very fine grit sandpaper or swabbing the surface with a solvent. 98% Rubbing alcohol is good to start with, and progress up to something like mineral spirits or acetone if you really want to take the paint off. If used lighlty the rubbing alcohol should just break down the surface enough to get the paint to stick. This makes me a bit jealous btw. Here in the states, it's hard enough to find a single Dalek, let alone three duplicates of any one figure.
