Didn't see that there was a thread about this DTV.

    BATMAN: YEAR ONE Movie Images

Is there a real need for this one since Batman Begins kind of covered a lot of material from the source material?

Batman Begins is not Animation so this will fit in with the Animation Collectors.

Thing is, Year One is as much Gordon's story as it is Bruce's. Batman Begins didn't cover the Gordon angle so much.

I hope an adaptation of DKR is up next.

    Very interesting.

I can understand why people like the Christian Bale movies, but they're not for me.

Year One is pretty much my favourite Batman story, and easily among the best there ever was. I like how they're evoking the art style here. Hopefully it'll be its own thing as well, and not a strictly literal adaptation.

That scene in the trailer reminds me of the opening of the 1st story in the Punisher Max series where Pun shows up and kills an entire party of mobsters. :)

Looking really good, but I have to agree I'm not really feeling the VA either. I'm sure it'll grow on me once I've seen the film.

not too thrilled about the animation style, really would have preferred they try to mimic the comic art or do something more realistic or 40's ish looking. Do want to see it though.

That VA for Batman is awful.Seems like they're going for a more Rino Romano (I think that was his name) Batman approch from 2004's The Batman for Batman's voice.

QFT. Sounds like an interesting take to me.

To be honest I had more of a problem with the other voice acting. It really had that disconnected feeling where everything got recorded separately.

But I can probably get past that.

Voice isn't great, but I think for me it's just the whole "it's not Conroy"-ism that I haven't quite gotten over. I'm sure I'll get used to it probably. Looks good regardless.

Just finished watching this movie. I assume these DTV efforts are only about an hour long due to budget constraints, but you really feel the time crunch. It's been years since I read Miller's Year One, so I don't remember enough of the comic to be able to compare events in the film. I vaguely feel like quite a lot was changed, but those are fuzzy memories. I do remember that the comic was as much about Jim Gordon as it was Batman, and that is preserved to good effect in the movie. That said, the short running time really did make side plots feel extraneous. Sarah Essen was there and gone in a blink, and Catwoman's appearance seemed largely irrelevant. (It does tie in somewhat to the Catwoman animated short that accompanies this film.)

The animation was fluid, and I liked a lot of the design work. The cel-shaded CG vehicles were nicely done too. The lines on Bruce Wayne's face made him seem A LOT older than 25, though. I liked most of the vocal performances, though it was difficult to get used to Ben McKenzie's take on Batman. Sometimes it seemed like he was putting on an affected accent instead of speaking naturally. (Incidentally, this is the second time this week I've noticed something like this, the other being Gina Torres putting on a weird accent for Airachnid in the TF Prime finale.)

They're doing DKR as a two parter, and Year One was great They even left the mid-'80's setting (Bats runs by a VHS/BetaMax rental place). Oh and Bryan Cranston and Benjamin McKenzie fucking owned Gorden and Bruce.
