While I scrape funds together for a 3DS, I need a 3D fix. Target by me has this on a temporary price drop at $19.99. Has anyone on here played it? Is the 3D effect any good? I'm thinking it could be neat to fool around with, but I don't want it if its really no better than the original game (i.e. if the 3D isn't that great/noticeable).

It's decent 3D, but it's also the anaglyphic so you're going to lose a lot of color from a great looking game. But if you don't own the game, then it's a good investment in either case, and you may as well get the one with the 3D. It's certainly not bad.

    Hey Prowl.....2 quick questions.....

Do you lose all of the color, or just some of the richness? Also, are the glasses that it comes with plastic or only paper?

Honestly, I don't own that version. You shouldn't really lose richness, so much as some of the color. I believe that this movie uses the same glasses as the Coraline BD. I'm pretty sure the glasses are paper though. If you're getting a 3DS soon, I wouldn't double dip on the game.

edit: If you have any green pink glasses laying around, you can see the game here (The blue and red ones should work too, but it will look a bit off). The depth looks amazing, but you lose almost all color:

Note: Watch it in YoutTube and change your 3D presets to Red Blue or Green Pink. It defaults to Shutter 3D.

sweet. thanks. I'll check it out when I get home. I don't have the game yet, so picking it up for $20 is probably worth it even if I'm not wild about the 3D.

I think it will still blow your mind, even if it's old school 3D. The truth is that it's still a video game with a real 3D environment, so all of the objects still have a lot of depth to them.

Neat. I'm actually excited to get to Target. I hope the "temporary price cut" wasn't just for the weekend.

I wish I could see the 3D effect with the glasses. :(  This game would look so cool.
