i live barricade, hes my fav, but i find it interesting that it was planned for him to be reformatted into sideways, but hasbro rejected the idea

i can see how that would work out since they have such simular bodies

still i find it a weird concept

Where was it ever officially stated he was to be Barricade? Because I must have missed that.

He does, however, reuse bits of Barricade's mode, but only because he appeared only briefly and modelling robots from scratch is expensive.

EDIT: A quick stop off at TFWiki says Chris Mowry envisioned him as Barricade. But he's an IDW Writer, so I don't think it's much "Sideways was originally Barricade" as "Chris Mowry wanted him to be Barricade." If he was ever going to be Barricade it would've been from an actual story team member of the movies.

Maybe they share the same body type, like Blackout and Grindor, the Brawls.... Also, the tons of Seekers and Throttlebots.

yeah, on tfwiki.net it says that Chris Mowry wanted him to become sideways in Transformers: Alliance but it was rejected by hasbro

 

Considering Sideways only appeared for 5 seconds, and ILM had to work in the computer-frying Devastator along with all the other stuff needed for the film, I really wouldn't be surprised if they simply altered Barricade's design enough to make him a new character, which would explain why he looks so similar.

That just says Barricade was considered for RotF, not that Sideways was ever considered to be Barricade.

Considering Sideways was pretty much killed for good in ROTF, I'd me inclined to say it was just another body double. Like the multiple Conbstructicons and Bonecrusher's double in ROTF, like Desert Brawl in DOTM.

 

I always liked the idea of Barricade reformating into Sideways. In a pre-DOTM sense, it would've tied up the mystery of TF1 rather nicely. However, seeing as how so many fans have ostensibly accepted the Barricade in DOTM as the same one from the first movie, I guess the whole Barricade -> Sideways idea is rather moot.

 

I am very dissapointed Sideways didn't have a major role other than being Sideswipe's very first kill.

Also i like the idea of Barricade and Sideways as twins. I mean with Skids and Mudflap who said they had to be the same vehicle.

 

I've been meaning to grab a second HA Barricade and turn him into Sideways, though. It'd definitely be a simple reshell.

 

Eh, nah. That concept is terrible in ny opinion. In Barricade's defense, I couldn't see him all ' hur hur hur loks ut me! I get nuw cahr mode!'


I prefer Sideways m, despite his minute in RoTF. Rest well, soldier. Rest well.
