* adds this to the list of why Barricade is the most visible & important Decepticon in the movies.
Just sucks that IDW prematurely killed off Barricade in the comics. The character had a lot of potential (especially in opposing Starscream's scheming). Would've loved a Generations (perhaps Combiner Wars) version of Barricade.
Yeah, it’s unfortunate. Kinda plays into the whole deal, where no one in charge of making creative decisions seemed to realize how popular he was. It seems like they’ve finally gotten the hint since they brought him back for TF5 & now the B.B. movie. I’d like it even more if we got to see him finally make the jump into one of the toons.
I still want a TFUniverse you of Barry! That repaint of Smokescreen left a lot to be desired.
Agreed. I was hoping they would use Barricade in Prime or NuRID ever since they revealed his kickass Aligned design (along with Prowl) but nope, those cool character concepts went unused, which is a shame.
If Barricade does show up in this movie, it'd be interesting to see his bot mode for sure.
Yeah, I have that figure and it's alright; more like they took the Aligned Prowl design and slapped a Barricade deco on him. I much preferred using TF Prime First Edition Vehicon and using that 3P Barricade head, light bar, and sticker upgrade garage kit for Aligned Barricade.
Speaking of Smokescreen repaint, using MP-19 Smokescreen and painting him up in black and white makes for a great Floro Dery/Guido Guidi version of G1 Masterpiece Barricade.
Having Barricade as the main villain is just the smartest thing to do.
...mostly it’s because he’s the only decepticon with significant character development on-screen; however cursory that may have been, it makes him a natural counterpart to bumblebee for a spinoff film, and offers more context to their confrontation in 2007...
Am I the only one that wants this?
...where in the country were chryslers prevalent?..i know here in texas the big cruisers were either caprices or crown victorias, with fox bodies filling state highway patrol duties...
Stereotype! Barricade literally has no character development in TF1! Even Starscream with 1 phrase has more.
...and yet he still shows more personality in appearance, words, and actions: it’s why he’s a fan favorite...
Obsession of many fans often based on nothing - Nitro Zeus is good example. I don't see any personality in Barricade - where he differs from Blackout or Bonecrusher? He didn't manage to do anything he just another soldier. He has looked good and had several awesome scenes. But he hadn't distinct characterisation unlike Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, the Fallen and Lockdown.
I have to agree with Russian fan here. Don't get me wrong, Barricade is extremely cool, he has a neat alt mode, he gets to kill Q, I like how he bosses around the protoforms in DotM in Cybertronian, while Shockwave remains cool and collected, after Soundwave was killed, his TLK design is amazing, and he has survived, retroactively or not, every film he has appeared in, but he doesn't have much to his character whatsoever. Starscream in the sequels, Megatron/Galvatron, Soundwave, Laserbeak, and the Fallen all have more to them in terms of personality and/or character than Barrcade. Ditto to Lockdown, who isn't a Decepticon but is worth mentioning since he is a non-Autobot antagonist.
I'd say he's slightly above the likes of Bonecrusher and Blackout just because he gets some dialogue at least.
Nevertheless, if he does appear in the Bumblebee movie, I hope Knight changes that.
Do you think Barricade will participate in the final battle or pull his first Barricade?
Barricade: Plymouth GTX in case you're looking for me things got messy so I had to split. Anyway good luck out there champ.
Plymouth GTX: Wait what?

Um, is there a source for that? That sounds like it's made-up.
He spoke English, for one.
I suspect they got it from the tfwiki page: tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers_(film)
Unfortunately the link to the original source is no longer working, but apparently Orci and Kurtzman preferred the idea of an evil police car.
Man I would love to see Barricade as an old police car! That would be sick!
I wouldn't be surprised to see him appear in the movie, if this means we get a nice figure of Barry in an older car disguise, I'll be happy.
This police car was seen on set. It's not out of the possibility that it's Barricade.
