Which Saleen Package is Barricade, Exactly...?
s281,i believe,though heavily modified.i could be wrong.
he is not a ford mustang,as some seem to insist for no reason...
From what I can tell from the photo above, it is a Ford Mustang but it is officially a "Modified Saleen Ford Mustang"
saleen is actually attached to gm,last i checked.not tied to ford,i don't think.
why,if barricade is a ford, why didn't we get more fords in the movie?
*bows out before any arguements get started*
I believe it's this one -
2005 Saleen Mustang S281 Extreme:
Now, who is that chick in your sig pic...exactly?
Uh yeah, he's a Saleen s281 Mustang.
Saleen is an independant manufacturer. When you buy a Saleen mustang, a stock Mustang GT is shipped to their manufacturing plant, they gut most of it, install the modified components, and then ship it to your dealer, with a full factory warranty. The fact that the car is available for purchase brand new, with a factory warranty, and the degree of testing and certification that Saleen goes through with the government....that's why Saleen is considered a manufacturer and not just a tuner.
But yeah, it's a Mustang. And saleen is an independant auto manufacturer, they're not "attached" to anybody. Steve Saleen started his company working only on the ford mustang, and has branched out since then. His long history with ford is why he's stuck to ford-only vehicles till now, but his involvement in the transformers movie and the fact that saleen's manufacturing facilities were used to construct the GM sourced Camaro Concept (which is actaully a pontiac GTO with a modified frame, it's not even the real concept camaro, let alone the real camaro), he's now established a working relationship with them as well and has gone on record as saying that he will be producing Saleen versions of BOTH pony cars.
What he said. But when the Camaro does come out, If anyone does aftermarket stuff on it, it probably wont be Saleen.
You quoted it and said hes right and then you said he wasnt, which is it?
Saleen has said he will do BOTH cars.
Oh, my bad! I was told GM was going back with SLP (street legal performance) the generally work with GM. They did the Firehawk and the earlier SS. But Saleen did help with the Camaro/GTO prototype. Thats all I meant. I heard he said he would do both also, just dont know if it will happen..it very well could! I was just told theres a good chance he wont. From a GM rep that could have been blowin smoke, but he is actually a decent source.
But, if anyone in MI wants to order a Camaro when they come out...let me know!
I'd actually read somewhere (and I don't remember where) that Bay initially went to Ford to get the rights to use a Ford Mustang for Barricade. Ford flat out refused, so Bay just went to Steve Saleen himself, who was perfectly happy to work with him.
In reality Barricade was just a stock mustang with the saleen exterior package. Check under the hood oh what's that? A stock ford gt mustang motor!
Well, I didn't seem to see more black Mustang on the road... so the Movie doesn't seem to help the manufacture... Ford was smart not to waste the sponsorship money...
If I had a black Mustang GT, I'd paint it up like Barricade. Pushbar, lightbar, and siren. Oh yeah!!!
And then get busted for impersonating a police officer. YAY!
Dat's the troof
Well at least our police cars here and white and blue, so i would be safe
Or just repaint an Alt. Grimlock/Wheeljack or a K.O to Barricade ?
Nah, I'd change it up enough not to get in trouble. Besides, wasn't there a news story about some guy that did it to his V-6 Mustang?
Yep, here it is. So far, he's not gotten in trouble though he has caused a stir.
Yep a Saleen S281.
