Anyone remember these banned sesame street skits. 1. 2. The monsterpiece theare shorts are also now edited to removed the scene were cookie monster eats his pipe. That first one kinda scared me as a kid. Never seen the second one.
I think I remember thinking the pyramid one was awesome. The yip-yip aliens, on the other hand, scared the crap out of me, and are still unsettlin'. It's those horrible triangular maws.
I believe Don Music was eventually banned (or at least dropped) because of the imitatable act of banging your head on a piano. I actually remember imitating him at my mom's piano, I was just smart enough never to do it full force, because that would, ya know, hurt. And I remember being a little freaked out by the Bert and Ernie pyramid skit.
I... guess I can understand the concern on the second one. One verse says: That could be viewed as teaching children to let strangers... do things. The Bert & Ernie clip, though, I have no clue. I don't remember seeing that one as a kid, but then, I don't know when it was banned. I can't imagine being scared by it, even as a young kid. Seriously? Wow, I've always loved those guys. BUUUUUUUHHH-RRRIIINGGGG! BUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHH-RRRRROIINGGGGG!
This one might be the same reason Snuffie was eventually "outed" to be real. It's the same theme of telling someone about something and them not believing it. Not wanting to teach kids NOT to tell the truth because grown-ups may not believe it.
The first was banned for scaring kids. The secend for the sit on his knee and let him do anything with me line.
Oh come one now. Foster and I are friends and I sit on his knee all the time. He has been nothing but a gentleman during those awkward 5 minutes.
These are not scary at all I always liked the Egypt one. This clip scares me till this day. sorry this is not in english.
I remember the Egpyt one, but never found it scary, and find it even more difficult to believe that they banned it.
That first one makes me feel really creeped out.. I don't know why since I don't remember being afraid of it, unless I suppressed it deep in my sub-conscious.
Doesn't seem a likely reason to me. The statue was moving, and Bert eventually saw it. Also, was Snuffy seriously "outed", and for that lame reason? (Obviously, I haven't been keeping up on my Sesame Street recently.) Even if no one else on the show saw him, the audience did. It kills me that people really think kids are dumb enough to require these measures. Although, come to think of it, I did strap on rockets and roller skates, drop anvils on people, and stick my fingers in gun barrels with great frequency as a child. My parents declared Chapter 11 six times due to the medical bills....
yeah sesame used to be totally hardcore. im watching elmos world with my kid these days, oh that mister noodle.
