YouTube - 'Transformers' Writers Interview
i dont get why they would not want to write the movies
So, they are open to writing the third film.
Brief, but interesting. Nice to see those two are confident about it.
well at least SOME thought was put into the writing process.
Sounds like while they aren't in a hurry to start TF3, they're willing if they/Bay/TPTB come up w/ a workable base.
Which really, is about all one can ask for at this venture.
Though really - they could just work on TF & StarTrek & have steady paycheck for the next 5+ years.
Great interview. I really hope those two stay on to write for TF #3.
Can writers be typecast? They could be typecast is Trek and TF is all they write for the next few years. I'm sure they're keen to get their own ideas made into new movies and tv shows.
Very cool interview. I love that last shot of Optimus.
Cool interview its good to know some of the thought process that went into the first ans second movies
This is an older interview... I saw this somewhere else about 3 weeks back or so. But good info! I hope that they stay on for TF3 because bad things may happen with the story if not like:
- Altering Transformers' alt modes, personalities, roles, and bring back dead ones that need to stay dead (ahem Brawl and Stratosphere if he dies in it).
- Taking the story in a direction that conflicts with the first two movies.
- Get different actors for the parts (but I'm sure they wouldn't replace Cullen)
I might be the only one, but something bothered me about the whole "where do you hide Optimus Prime?" question.
He turns into a Truck. There's only about a few hundred truck stops across America, and miles of open highway. Hmmm lets think about this a little harder.
I can't possibly be these guys apparently don't get the whole point of transforming. Robots in Disguise? Hiding in plain sight? Anthing could be a TF.
Don't get me wrong, I know they play upon this theme a little harder in TF2 (kitchen appliances, the doctor, Wheelie)
They DO get it. Just made for a bad interview clip.
Isn't one of them involved in writing (or at least creating) Fringe on Fox?
They looked nervous. Some of the things they said made me scoff as it displayed a lack of understanding.. and... Some of the things they said made sense.
What is clear to me is that they felt uncomfortable writing the first movie.. They had trouble envisioning it, they were completely overwhelmed by the source material and didn't really know which choir to preach to. They are not real fans; at least in relativity to ourselves... they didn't enjoy the 25 year ride, and are not aware of the MAJOR blips and bumps of the history and mythology that most fans are... I think they were writing a little bit in a haze the first time around... Taking that into account they did a pretty good job.
For the second movie they have fan reactions, which will really help in their understanding of the feel for the movie that the fans; at least, would like them to have... Obviously there is only so much deviating from the first movie that they can do, but I'm sure they will revise it slightly to match certain expectations... Or not? Who knows.. Here's hoping they take our reactions and run with them intelligently to make these movies more transformery feeling... They seem like smart people... keep your fingers crossed! I want less human "well that's life! OH HO HO! HA HA!" type scenes... and more focus on the story of the transformers & transformers characters themselves... I have yet to care about any of the transformers characters. And I don't care about the humans at all they are a distraction; unimportant bi-product of forced general populace writing. So as a result, there are no characters in the film I care about! Which sucks for me!
More focus on the actual transformers would probably change that. This is just a guess though........................................................................sigh.............. I'll be honest in saying I'm hopeful, but I doubt the validity of that hope quite a bit. Prove me wrong writers, I like a lot of your other stuff. (non-transformers related........too bad about cat woman though. )
I honestly want to go to TransFormers School! I wonder what thats like
Start the day off arriving in a shuttle.

Last bell...get on that shuttle or head to Burger Bot.
They talked about the robots talking to the government just before, so my take on it was that they were thinking of where they could have Optimus talking to them in robot mode. Somewhere concealed, where he can stand up without everyone seeing him, like a big warehouse or something.
Technically, Optimus ought to be able to hold a conversation with whoever while he's still hiding out in truck mode... but I'm guessing they'd want him in robot mode so that the audience can relate to it better. With robotic facial expressions and all that.
heh,, In transformers school you stay as a protoform untill you graduate, then when you graduate you get a alt mode. If you further your education you get a Triple changer Degree, and if you get a Masters, you will be able to join a Gestault team.
Well If I were them, I wouldn't even want to admit I had anything to do with the first movie.
ROFL had better be good. That's the only other thing I have to say.
