Just because I don't like the current ones does not mean I can't campaign for better movies. Pretty much the only movie threads I've posted in for the last few months are the two TF vs. Avengers threads and the thread on whether Joss Whedon should direct the next TF movie.

You can be a Transformers fan and still be happy for the (much deserved) financial success of another franchise. I loved Iron Man, but I was super impressed with the success of TDK. I thoroughly enjoy Bayformers but that doesn't stop me from clapping when Avengers passed DotM. Being a fan of one doesn't automatically mean you must hate the other. Heck, you can be a Transformers fan and not like the movies; there's no law against that.

It was only a matter of time. The Avengers is a fantastic movie.

I'm not sure it'll surpass Avatar or Titanic, though. The film is phenomenal, but you can see that its box office intake is starting to slow. I personally would love to see it top the list, but I dunno if that's something it can accomplish.

Good, they deserved it. I cannot wait for people to come in here with guns blazing acting like whatver money other movies make erases the records and accompishments of DOTM. Records meant to be broken, etc.

This will cause Bay + co to realise that an action film doesn't need to be completely ball-up stupid to make a staggering amount of money.

    BWAHAHAHA no

What accomplishments did DOTM have other than a high box office take? It pissed off the critics and a good majority of the fans along with them.

Look, Avengers was an important lesson in action movie making. It has proven that it's possible to have an action movie with good characters and humor that pleases fans and critics alike while still being wildly successful.

One of the most common arguments that DOTM isn't too flawed is that it's meant to be mindless entertainment. While that is probably true this proves a TF movie can aspire to be something more without sacrificing success and approval.

Dark of the Moon was the sequel to the winner of the Hyperbole Award for "worst movie ever across all time and space."

In order for Avengers to be impressive for beating DotM at the box office, then Dark of the Moon has to be good, otherwise it's just bragging about beating the guy with no legs in a footrace.

And honestly that brings a huge grin to my face.

Many elements of this fandom have proved to only care about themselves. So to see their wishes and desires trampled, is an amazing karmatic experience.

People don´t care about tastes of others, so I won´t care about theirs. If our interests coincide in other parts, good. If not, sucks to be any of you.

Not surprising. Sure DOTM did well in the box offices... but it was either loved or hated. For the most part... Avengers has gotten praises...

While I can agree that the number of tickets being sold is not proof of how good a movie is (the Transformers movies are very definitely proof of that), I'm glad that it's been proved that a decent sci fi action movie with good dialogue and character development, that is appreciated by both fans and the general audience, will sell cinema seats.

I wouldn't count on it. Instead, I can see them thinking 'Maybe we should get our own Hulk'. Add in a dose of Bay-'humour' - No, better not go there....

Avengers is basically Dark of the Moon done right! Therefore I'm glad It's now numero 4. But can it bump off Avatar and Titanic.....We can only hope for the best it does.

On the other hand, that just might be the incentive for them to include Grimlock and the Dinobots in the next TF movie. Then again probably get the Shockwave treatment, anyway.
