Movie Talk: Avatar 2: The Abyss
sounds ok to me but with James Cameron it might prove me wrong
The only thing I could think of while reading that is this: if it took Cameron 10 years to come up with the god-awful story we got with the first one, how bad do you want to bet the one that takes him a third of the time will be?
James Cameron's filming career was finished for me after "True Lies"
Can this be blue overload? The story sounds disappointing, but I'll end up seeing the movie anyways.
No, just, no.
I don't understand all the hate... This is good news to me.
Avatar 2: Dances with Dolphins
Well, they did make a sequel to Ferngully, so I suppose they can start there.
This is great news. Having the story take place in an area of Pandora we have not seen yet is a good starting point, and James obviously knows how to film underwater, more so than anyone else. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the oceans of Pandora are far more diverse then ours on Earth, and given the fact that the Na'vi can communicate with the other animals on the planet, they probably will have some awesome sharks/squids/whales/dolphins and what not. The military might even build underwater bases...who knows?
I think it will make more sense when we see what the Earth looks like in the extended version of the first film. It's in the script, and not pretty...
I somehow get the feeling even Ferngully 2 will be better than Avatar 2.
You have no idea how impossible that is.
Kick ass > Avatar
I will never understand why people don't "get" this movie. It is, and above all else, a demonstration of what Jim spent years and years of experimenting with his own technology that he paid for himself. He was not trying to write a new story, and he never claimed to be.
The problem I run into with Avatar is while I enjoy the visual effects, the story is just the regular rehashed cowboy-type movie. Native Americans=Navi. Cowboys=Humans. While I still enjoy the movie, I have to question if it was for the overall movie or just for the effects.
Regardless, I have to see the sequel just to see what else Cameron can do with technology.
True lies is awesome. It has one of the greatest lines ever spoken by man.
"What kind of sick bitch takes the ice cube trays?"
i cant see a sequel unless it is alien vs predator vs navi.
"Is it a snow cone maker?"
Meh. I like the film well enough, even though I couldn't help but think to myself as I watched the 2D version last night, "Man, this film wouldn't have performed nearly so well without the 3D." A sequel just feels like milking the cash cow now (and nothing wrong with that mind you) just as a story, the first film pretty much said everything that needed to be said.
So the fact that "Jim" spent years working on it excuses the awful story?
There's nothing to "get".
if people are against stories so much then why did you get tf2? it story is not good either. but the action is. like avatar.
