Preview: Transformers: Autocracy #12 - Comic Book Resources wow, has the dialog been this bad for the whole series? (this is the first bit of it i have read...) And not to get super picky, but Bumblebee's got Cliffjumpers helmet on that first page...
That definitely looks like it was an error. Like someone realized it was supposed to be Bee and just colored him that way.
I'm really not understanding the point of this story, WAAAAAAY back when IDW first started they said "Just assume The war Within still happened and ignore the parts that don't match up" And I was fine with that. I don't understand how this adds to the continuity and it certainly kinda ruins by IDW collection Vol. 1
Is it just me, or does Ramondelli's art get better and better after every issue he does? Because this is the best work he's done yet.
Yeah previous continuity is getting the crap kicked out of it. But it's still a good story and with it only being a $0.99 I'm willing to let a few things slide. Provided that there's a valid explanation for it.
It ruins the Actual physical copy, since the point is to print everything in chronological order, and now it'll be, "Read the first section of this book, then read this book, then go BACK to the first book."
I forgot IDW printed their collection in story (not printing) order. You could theoretically read Autocracy and then IDW v1 instead of just stopping mid read to go to Autocracy and then back again.
Chaos Theory > Megatron Origin > Autocracy is the order we're at now, I believe. With Autocracy being the point where the war kicks off as a global event. So this is before the planet was devastated and Shockwave enacted his regenesis plan.
I agree- this is right about when the war started. So shockwave still hasn't started regeneration and the dynobots are still in Cybertron.
So they should never have any more flashback series/one-shots ever just because it would mess up the order of a hardcover collection? That seems like a really dumb reason for this not to happen. Honestly, I find the IDW backstory (well, Chaos Theory and Autocracy at least) to be far superior to War Within. I think the IDW collections should have just been in publication order, with the exception of Maximum Dinobots, which really needs to be placed before AHM.
I've not been overwhelmed by the series, but it's been entertaining enough. Some nice painting, even if it isn't always very clear, and good to see a grungier style for something a bit different. Probably pass on the trade though.
For me, Autocracy is fine miniseries. But it would be better if it had foreshadowed the event of current two ongoing series. (OP keeps saying "have faith and courage"... Should I expect Burning Justice?)
I was surprised at how hard they bit on the 86 movie with the whole Prime, Megatron, & Hotfod thing. Although since in this continuitythat scenario nevr plays out. I do suppose that was a fun way for Flint to slip a wink & a nod in. Also I decided that the Cliffjumper painted up as Bumblebee was actually good Ol Yellow Cliffjumper. We'll just call him Cliffbee. Or Bee for short. Lastly I wish he would have drawn Metroplex in his damn city mode. I bet with this art style it would have looked box art cool.
