Anyone thinks the Autobots outnumbered? Not only are there more Decepticons, the Autobots are physically shorter than their rivals and they can't fly too!

its a nice change of pace. The Decepticons are supposed to be the dominant faction, with the Autobots on the verge of extinction.

The trailers do say "Some will come to protect us, most will come to destroy us" So I assume that the Autobots are outnumbered.

They can beat them no matter what, remember what Cybertron Optimus Prime said, ''Its teamwork that counts.''

    Correct.

Although in saying that a army of morons isn't quite as good as a team of elites, but that'd translate into the elites ultimately having more power due to better fighting skills than the morons.

It's about time we had the Decepticons have a higher roster than the Autobots. I never understood how 'tough' the Decepticons have supposed to have been, especially during Arm/En/Cyb - they were useless shots, stupid and inefficient (bar Megs and occasionally Starscream). I like that with this movie, they look evil, act evil, and are powerful. True standards of a proper 'bad guy army' - not Demolishor/Cyclonus bullcrap.

Well most of the Decepticons are Military Vehicals...F-22, Heliocopter, Tank, etc........All of these are physically bigger than a Camero, Hummer, Sports Car!

So ya, stands to reason that the 'Cons would be bigger!

As for the Cons outnumbering the Autobots...thats why they team with the humans......makes the story more interesting! :D

Is it TF tradition to have flying Decepticons and land-crawling Autobots?

Yea, I definatly think the fact their are more Cons than Bots. It will bring about a better story. It'll show how important it is that the Decepticons must be defeated.

In the original cartoon series it was. With the exception of Skyfire, Powerglide, the Airial Bots (can't spell), and Omega Supreme. The rest were all ground based. In the comic book, many of the Decepticons couldn't fly either. But in the cartoon show, all Decepticons flew, it was their one true advantage over the Autobots.

It's about time. One thing I didn't like about previous lines is the Autobots outnumbering the Decepticons by about 2 to 1.
    My Alternator Decepticons agree.

Yup, being outnumbered helps create a bigger sense of threat and necessity to win.

Umm. What year were you born? Not to be TOO rude, but do you not notice the first four letters in AUTObot? They are predominantly land based vehicles, and even in later G1 episodes when they had air power (Aerialbots) they still were outgunned in the air.

I'm disappointed that the Autobots are HEAVILY outnumbered and in the movie they are NOT initially "greeted with warm arms" by the humans, as I can piece together. It is the Decepticons and their arrival who make their presence known first, then the Autobots step up and plead with the Armed Forces. I see the Autobots and the Armed Forces as Autobots and G.I. Joe. They should've gone ahead and named the "lead" human Armed Forces characters after G.I. Joe guys.

I do wish that with seven (or is it eight) Decepticons that there had been at least SIX Autobots instead of five. I would've like to seen one of the "bigger" Autobots like Prowl, Bluestreak, Inferno, or Hoist.

Well I figured if their alien makers names them Autobots, the 'Auto' wouldn't necessarily translate to 'automobile' in human language.

In any case, I am a newcomer to TF.

True, the movie prequel book refers to them as "Autonomous bots", which explains the name without them having automobiles on Cybertron.

Character and toy wise the Decepticons do outnumber the Autobots.

    Lets see...

    Decepticons
Megatron, Starscream, Barricade and Frenzy, Blackout and Scorponok, Brawl, Bonecrusher, Thundercracker, Wreckage, Swindle, Dreadwing, Unnamed truck 'Con we've yet to see in toy form.

    Autobots
Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Rachet, Jazz, Ironhide, Arcee (She was supposed to be in the movie)

Not including the Real Gears (Which I suspect is pretty evenly matched even with coming repaints ) and the *shudder* Energon/Cybertron repaints.

A 13 to 6 advantage with firepower and size.

But I can imagine an X-men route in the sequels filling the Autobot ranks as the War escalates on Earth.
