so this goes along with the prowl I had recently posted up here. when alert was released, I knew that that mold was going to be my prowl, but I'd need to buy the official one to have the proper head. luckily takara released a blue colored prowl so I didn't have to buy another police colored vehicle. the question was what to do with my blue headless prowl. I was thinking about making him a blue bluestreak, using the head from alert, but then someone in a thread suggested making nightbeat, who was a decent character in the comics. with a little help from some pics from transtopia, I got a sideswipe head and I submit for your reviews my nightbeat. I would also like any critiques on my photo taking. I'm using a 7.2 MP casio exilim on a tripod. the flash is pretty weak, and I don't have any other light sources, but I also don't feel like spending any additional money on them.

That is pretty damn nice! I guess I now know what I'll be doing with my extra Prowl.

Nightbeat is probably one of THE best choices for BT Blue Prowl. That's the cleanest one I've seen to date. Great job! :)

    Awesome job. :thumbs2:  :thumbs2:

I've been advocating this being made since I saw it last summer. I just couldn't find a head for it. I would have never thought to use Side Swipe's. Now I got to get another Side Swipe.

he he, thanks guys. I've gotten a LOT better with the painting over the past year since switching to testors model master acrylics. I had previously been using their cheap enamels or craft store acrylics. I never thought it would've made that much of a difference. all of my painting I do by hand, and usually about 4 coats. I had to put down a layer of grey on the head before painting it, because the black was just too dark of a color underneath. if you're looking for a cheap sideswipe, just keep scouring junkion. I also got one that was mib, but asked the seller to chuck the box to keep shipping down.

    nice

holy crap, that's awesome! How did you do the paint on the face, it looks so smooth... did you use a brush, or air brush... if you used an airbrush, did you tape the other parts?

all I did for the face was apply 1 (and I rarely can get away with only one) coat of paint, by hand. this is what I'm talking about when I say the paint makes all the difference in the world. I don't get brush strokes or anything with the model master acrylics. no special brushes, either. just some from a $2.99 testors three pack.

Hey man that's pretty cool. Reminds me of a giant BT style Spychanger . I love SC's

I'd be scared to kitbask a BT, but with their smooth paintjobs, it has to be worth it if you know what you're doing. Which obviously you do as that looks great.

You didn't make that. That's some... ummm.... unreleased painted prototype?

Damn, who am I kidding. That's amazing, dude. That paintjob is silky smooth. I'm no photographer, but I thought the pictures were good, too.
