    Hey guys,

been a while since I've posted a custom. Trying to type with a stitch in my pointer finger tip ...it's hard to type...

Anyway, this doesn't mean i haven't been busy. I've been making customs around the clock.

This is my newest custom - Classic's Hound and Ravage. I did what I had to in order to get these so soon, and out of the box, thought Hound could use some upgrades.

I removed the existing hands and added some very articulated ones, which still fold into the forearms for TF into alt form. I also removed and replaced the tires with rubber tires, giving the jeep more respect.

The decals are water slide, custom made. A bit tricky getting white graphics on dark green, but I floated the text in green (matching) then painted around the graphics.

All in all, I am happy with the way he turned out, I think I've done a nice job bringing him to life.

Very sharp paint work! Looks much better! You and Spurt Reynolds are becoming my two favorite painters for sure. Looks like you went with a bit of his "blending" technique! Turned out fantastic. Ravage is aces too!

**EDIT** Just noticed no shoulder cannon in Bot mode, I like the way you have the wheels folded on the back, but does that prohibit attaching the cannon? And the hands DO look very much better!!

I see the great Spurt-like blending also, but I think I've seen this kind of blending on some of FR's customs before.

IMO, the drybrushing technique is pretty distinct from anyone else's. I guess FR is a little more patient than me with using as little paint as possible. It gives the figure great depth.

All in all, both of them look great!

Truly detailed. BTW, i think the hands are from those 1/100 scale Gundam kits (pre and post F-91 kits)? Am I rite?

Yeah, F_R's Universe Grimlock showed the blending as well. I maybe should have reworded my statement, I did not mean to imply he had not used the technique before, only pointing out it seems more prevalent on Hound. :thumbs2:

    Thanks for the compliments.
My process for blending is more like drybrushing, but with lighter shades each run. This figure, I tried some new techniques with the metal parts. You can see the front bumper and metal thingy behind it are different, I used different colors/shades of silver to achieve this.

I also used better lighting setup this run. Rather than the 2 cheesy lights which came with my light tent, I upgrade to full spectrum lamps which seem to bring out more highlight.

Yes, the variations in the metallics are subtle, which adds to the realism and liveliness of 'ol Hound! Your pictures have always been great, but yes, I can see an improvement from say, Powerglide to this. I was never really sold on dark/black backdrops in light tents, but I must admit it does make the figure pop!

*EDIT* technical term for thingy behind the bumper = winch:p

DOH!! Forgot to ask, did you airbrush the basecoat before you started the drybrush-blend?

TBH, i am not sure how the final pics look. On my move cross country, my beautiful new 21" monitor took a shit, and no longer works, so I am on a back up "NEC" monitor where most text is actually blurry, haha.

And yeah, those are gundam hands, I invested in about 100 sets of them a little while back.

    Thanks PK.

the hands are something I yearn to improve on every figure I come across.

in my opinion, hands give life to bodies. The create and emphasize expression - plus with articulated hands my TFs can grab things, make a fist, point, wave - one day they will be able to make gang signs. I talk a lot with my hands...i'm italian. Give respect to the hand talking and modding of.

Love it. One of my favorite TF's, and you really brought this thing to life. Subtle, but sharp too.

    Great job as usual man.
