Damn, I spotted this on tuesday and kept forgeting to bring something to take pictures of it. I was wondering what the symbols were. Oh well good reporting Reave, I thought for sure someone would have reported earlier with them being out as long as they were.

This has got to be one of the lamest pack ins yet. :p

(Say someone who has the magnets from Botcon) :D

CDs and DVDs have data stored by burning sectors. It's optic and the data is read thanks to the reflection by a light source (a laser, for example). Heat can damage them, but magnets can't.

Magnets did damage old tapes and floppy discs because the data was stored magnetically.

That's also the reason why the first generations of CDs and DVDs cannot be re-written.

P.S.: complaining about the changes to the faction symbols is ... too much. Sorry. They're different, but they "look" the same.

I agree. If there is a difference, I can barely see it. They could have made completely new symbols for the movie, so I'm fine with whatever infinitesimal change there may be.

Best pack-in ever. Despite owning the movie already, I want one of those magnets for the hood of my car. Where does one get an Autobot magnet without having to buy the movie all over again? Are they being sold as stand-alones by anyone?

Dunno, but I figure that one could make one's own using magnets purchased at craft stores. And some of those Internet vinyl places probably make them.

Lame pack-in, and for the record, magnets DO screw up digital media like CD's and DVD's. True, it would take a long time compared to tapes, but they do affect the discs.
