    While the paint apps might be a little rough (although I think that might be intentional?), I think he looks pretty darned good, although I'm a sucker for a certain Gobot with a similar color scheme...
    What is the figure based off of?

    Yeah. He's one of the Japanese Railbots (?), and the paint apps are supposed to be a bit rough. :)  Also, I made it from a few random transformer parts I had and an old model train.

    He's neat! Do you know the base figure's name? I'm curious about how he started out.
    In terms of paint apps. Bare metal areas should be roughed up a bit, but things like pin-striping on an engine look more realistic clean. Masking tape is a HUGE help with that stuff. Almost no one can free hand those damn things.

    I think you did a great job. all the panels line up real nice & he's unique in his alt mode.
