Autobot : Bumblebee (alt mode pics added 4/1)

Here's a recent custom of mine, an oldie, but goodie (one of my favorite TFTM figures)

I removed all factory paints, and cleaned him all nice and good. Removed the stiff plain hands and added new articulated hands from a gundam. I have some stuff called "Plasticote" which is a paint on rubber for tool handles, which came in hand to get the ball joints on the gundam hands big enough and tight enough inside their sockets of the forearms.

Another cool addition to this guy was the request to make interchangeable faces. The back 3/4 of the head remains permanent on the ball joint, and the 2 faces were hollowed out. On the back of each face is a thin small magnet. They can quickly be swapped out.

The racing stripes were painted using some nice Tamiya lining tape. He was primed with Krylon Fusion yellow mixed with a drop of red. I base coated him in Testor's "Amber Yellow" metallic through the air brush, then clear coated him in an iridescent yellow gloss lacquer. The faces were a challenge yet, I am quite please how detailed they came out, this is an EXCELLENT figure to paint.

On a final note, I will be adding Alt mode pics later this week, once the clear coat is cured.

    Thanks!

Thanks, the yellow matches the factory Ultimate BB's paint, however mine is more metallic, shiny, and lacquer.

    Thanks Solrac

Thank you. Articulated hands are a must have when so simple to swap in.

I blended several hues of light blue to white (center) to give it that appearance. I wish I could LED his eyes, eh, maybe the ROTF one I got planned.

    Nope, entirely repainted.

Wonderful job... too late for a suggestion of adding the ears on the normal mode or hollowing out the the tracks for the face mask on the battle mode?

Man f_r, that's awesome as hell. Your painting is one of the few on these boards that have inspired me to paint some of my figures. I think that iwhen the preveiw BB for RoTF comes out I'll be using him to make up a nice parts bot to make my custom BB better! Thanks so much for posting! Also, what do you mean by primed him with fusion yellow with a touch of red?? How did you add the touch of red???? Did you spray them into smaller jars and mix from there?? That would be mssy I think. Thanks again!

    Thanks Split

Should the "normal mode" have the ears? I maybe should have payed closer attentions, thanks for the tip.

I've been spraying my fusion into it's cap, then pouring into my air brush (top gravity feed) while in the cap, I added a drop of red to give it the orange hue. Thanks for the compliment, glad I can help.

I'm assuming that u added fusion red to the yellow, thanks for the info! I may need to try this some time. Maybe for my next repaint of the figure.

You know, I am not really sure. I think they are 1/144, usually the 1/100s have art. thumbs, right?
