I used to have a toy, it was a big transformer. I remember spending like $25 when I was like 8 years old, so that was alot of money to me.
This toy was a base for the autobots that transformed into a big robot. Does anyone remember what it was called? Please, somebody help! It's driving me crazy trying to remember.

I think it might have been metroplex, but I still am not sure. Anyone else know for sure?

those are the only two base bots that weren't parts formers, so it probably was metroplex

It definitely was Metroplex, because that is how much I paid for him when I was a kid. I remember saving up my allowance for a couple of weeks to get him and how much it was and where I got it (big name department store from way back when).

I'd guess that if it's one of those two it'd be Metroplex. I believe that Fortress Maximus retailed for a lot more than $25.

Yeah Fort Max retailed for 80-100 i think just due to the size and material costs to produce.

It's pretty hard for anyone to know "for sure" when all the info you've given us was "Autobot Base for $25."

That said, given the limited description, it was most likely Metroplex. But can you tell us anything about colors? What kind of "Base" it was?

If I'm not mistaken, there were also some Micromaster bases. But I don't know if any of those retailed for $25.

Yeah, Metroplex was white so that would be a indication.
There's also google image search! ;)

You know, it wasn't a TF product, but I wonder if he's thinking of that GoBots Imperial Walker looking base?

Oh Wow!, Major nostalgia! - I'd forgotten that I even had that as a kid - I wonder what happened to it.
