These Protoform models used in the 2007 Movie and ROTF will be reused in DOTM. A cost cutting measure on making new models. The Autobot Protoforms as you can see are the crew of the Ark with Sentinel Prime. The Decepticon Protoform will also bolster Shockwave's invasion force.

If the Autobot Protoform's are to used in a battle scene here's hoping it faces a Decepticon Protoform.

In Dark of the Moon, Yes. They are the same models used in 2007 and ROTF. To cut the expense of making a new CGI model, CGI models are reused.

    This.

I'm weary of seeing anonymous protoform troopers. Give us some proper characters, dammit; I don't care if you reduce the number of robots to do it. The way I see it, there shouldn't have been more than seven Cybertronians featured on each side, anyway.

Well at least it helps identify which protoform are Autobot and Decepticon.

If we go by the Hatchlings and the ancient Transformers, Most TF bodies are mass produced. They go through personalized upgrades if they choose to.

Which is probably why they developed trans-scanning.

very weird therorie, i you look CLOSE you see that only the movie 07-ptoroforms are the same, in rotf they was not used! this is more than clear.

look a the protoforms in the dotm teaser, the faces are different, the bodys are different, they are not recycled for that!

i'm a ver ybig fan of the movieverse, but this time i think you're wrong

The Grammar Nazi in me is very tempted to rewrite what you wrote.

I didn't say the 2007 Protoforms were used in ROTF. As you can see I posted pictures and categorized them between Autobot and Decepticon, unless you can't see them.

The Autobots all have a general protoform design. So do the Decepticons. Thing is they use generic parts mixing for to have a bit variance. A technique Floro Dery himself uses.

The Autobots have some differing proportions but it is the same design. For example Optimus has leaner cheeks. Ironhide has bigger cheeks. Same thing in DOTM trailer with the Autobots.

Remember that great battle in ROTF? All of the look the same yet different. That is because they are mixing generic compatible parts.

All in all the CGI protoform models used for 2007 and ROTF hasn't changed that much. Because it is cheaper. Why do you think a Brawl and a Long Haul are in the DOTM trailer? Its just being cheap like inserting Bone Crusher and Scorponok in ROTF with Blackout as well via Grindor.

i wish there was more color on the protoforms i mean its so damn tough to tell there are even bots in that ship u can see arms and heads and stuff but color would have been nice to show us difference in bots.

I agree. Even if they are not able to color the entire bot, a splash of color to make them stand out would be great. Especially with the movie being in 3D, this would make these protoforms stand out.

As you can see here for the ancient Transformers they were mixing and matching heads to body types.

Are you saying that the other Primes bodies are rejigs of Decepticon Protoforms with The fallen's Parts ?

Speaking of Protoforms - perhaps they should make 3 slightly different ones that combine as toys it would be a nice complement to Arcee and give us a movie universe generic soldier type - which would be worthwhile....

A Deluxe 'The Fallen' would be nice too.m Perhaps a Mix an match protoform model kit is a good idea to do if they ever make more of those Movie model kits Takara-tomy's doing.

That Tan coloured variation on Brawl (in the middle distance below Wing-Optimus) looks really cool I'd love to see him close up.

Nah each (Autobot, Decepticon, Prime) is different CGI model. Floro Dery demonstrated a technique of mixing parts of generics to make a new robot. CG modelers work on the same principle. Autobot Protoforms are all the same just a difference of some proportions and facial expressions. Decepticon Protoforms are more uniform but there a slight variance to some generic parts, heads stay the same. Seven Prime CGI models have more evident mixing and matching.

The Decepticon protoforms that were introduced in ROTF had blackouts face on them. Makes me wonder if Blackout was a clone or if they just decided that blackouts face would make a good look for a clone.

Interesting it does resemble Blackout but with some tweeks.
