Fair to say, I really like the ROTF game. The simple fun of running around as a giant robot never gets old, and beating/shooting the scrap out of other giant robots is equally fun!

As you who play the game know, Breakaway is the Autobot's flying character, an F-35 with skills! Sniping, flying, overheating and taunting like a boss, Breakaway seemed like a flying Jazz, and never ceased to bring a smile to my face with the oh-so wonderful head-shot. "Didn't see it coming!"

(Also, he and Bumblebee totally made fun of Ironhide ROFL)

Of course, with such an awesome chap flying around trolling Starscreams and Grindors everywhere, I hoped we might have him in the film. Alas, no. Jetfire made up for it, though, so, yeah, cool.

But Jetfire died.  

So, DOTM comes along. And I hoped again. Give us a flying Autobot! An awesome aerial fight with Starscream! Bombing the bad guys! Trashing Decepticon ships!

Alas, no.  

Well, you might wonder: WHERE U GOING WITH THIS, FOOL? I shall tell! Whether or not you actually like Breakaway, how would you put him in DOTM? Would you replace another Autobot with him? Have him as a mere background character? A surprisingly important Autobot? Or cannon-fodder for Starscream to totally kill? XD

Me, personally, I would have him as a character who we meet alongside the others at the NEST base first of all. When the Dreads attack, he could provide aerial recon, and maybe stop to help Simmons or something. The final battle comes along. Not being a car, Breakaway waits for Prime to move in first. Comes the signal, he flies in and bombs the stuffing out of the ships and 'Cons and stuff. AWESOME! And then he fights Starscream. Wins or loses, I dunno XD; on the one hand, I like him and don't want him to die. On the other, Starscream needs an awesome fight/killtacular  

Well, that's me said and done. How would you handle Breakaway? Comment!  

 

Breakaway couldn't be in the DOTM movie because he died in the DOTM game, and the game is before the movie.

Starscream kills him. Air Raid and Silverbolt also get killed by Starscream.

 

Oh crud. I forgot about that! XD

Baaah, Breakaway for me is just cannon fodder. I always beat the crap outta noobs who play as him on ROTF online. Starscream totally pwns him in the airel fight in the DOTM game.

Starscream rocks; I love trashing those damnable Jazz's with him   Admittedly, Grindor was always my best, but Screamer is hardcore straight=up lightning strike! BAM!

So, I assume that if you had him in the film, you'd probably go with the minor character route who has an epic battle with Screamer but ultimately loses?

 

Sadly yes but i'd at least give Breakaway some more screen time. Btw for the fight i'd love to have Screamers TF 2007 F-22 brawl for attacking Breakaway that would rock wouldn't it?

 

I always had a thing for Breakaway. I love his "let's kick the tires and light the fires line". It would have been nice to see him onscreen. But since Starscream killed him that didn't happen. But a group of Aerialbots would have been nice in the film.

Sounds like somebody's been sniped one time too many.

 

This just shows the best events happen OUTSIDE of the movies and Bay's dismissal of any potential of non-car Autobots.

Breakaway seemed to be my #1 Autobot flyer (For jets. Skyhammer is #1 overal flight capable Autobots). I would have loved to see him in DOTM. It would be a twist from the Cars and Trucks that we had.



DARN YOU STARSCREAM! WHY!?

 

I would have carried the aerialbots over from the game to the film. Some say they died, but there's no clear evidence for this.

I think it would've been cool if Breakaway, or maybe Air Raid, appeared in Dark of the Moon, especially in the final battle. Would've been cool if the Autobots had some aerial support.

However, in the final battle, were it up to me, I would've had him take on a load of those one man assault crafts, bite of more then he could chew, and then get shot down and killed. He'd die my way, but he'd go out with a bang at least.

That comic is so stupid. The only time you actually see him is when he explodes, and what makes it even more stupid is that IDW used the Walmart(?) exclusive toy from the first film as a base for Breakaway in every other comic. It's just madness.

 

And when, pray tell, have the games ever, I repeat, ever, been official canon?
