We have published the NPD UK sales charts for August 2008 as well as covering both the general performance of Transformers as a movie-tie in line within the UK for 2008 as well as looking ahead to some of the major players expected for 2009 and 2010 according to some industry analysts.

On a August sales front the Transformers Movie Legends was at number 6 spot in terms of Units sold. As a line this has been the biggest success in the UK since the 1980s. The line was not only the number one action figure for 2007 in terms of unit solds, but over a year later continues out perform all other action figures other then Ben 10.

On a YTD basis is it once again the Movie Legends line that keeps Transformers in the charts, this time appearing in both the monetary value chart and the unit sales charts. In terms of monetary value, the Movie legends are ranked number 6, in terms of units sold, they are at number 4.

According to the movie-tie in sales charts and retailer, Transformers was ranked as the joint 2nd most important line for July - August, along with The Dark Knight, with Clone Wars ranked as number one.

You can find more on this, as well as the full charts and the predictions for the top UK movie tie-ins for 2009 and 2010 (According to industry analyst Lutz Muller), by clicking the link at the top of this post.
