Very sad to hear that the social groups will be going away with the new forum update. =(

I actually like the ads. It's turned me on to several places. I used to be eBay only, until I learned better.

We're probably moving from vBulletin 3 to Xenforo.

One of the biggest issues with forum upgrades I've had on my own forums are attachments. Since many, many, many images here are posted in the form of attachments, I hope we don't run into issues with migration.

This would be a good time (IMO) to streamline the resources section, speed it up and make it more user-friendly.

I'd also like to lobby for one change I asked for a long time ago, to add the mandatory "international shipping yes/no" field to Junkion sale thread posts and allow us to filter by that field - wading through hundreds of sale threads without a way to easily tell which sellers will ship outside of the US is really cumbersome. Doubly so when sellers don't mention anything in the text so you only learn that they don't ship after sending a PM.

Nice, will the layout be different as well? :)

Also, I'm not so active in the social groups anyways and what is a user album?

User Albums are albums that users in VBulletin forums use to upload photos, and only they can upload photos to those albums. When you access a profile page, it's usually underneath the Profile Picture and all of post statistics and join date. For this site, it was only available if you were a Site Sponsor.

The "ignore user" function needs to include hiding of threads made by those people.....or at very least give you the option to do so.

Also, collapsable drop boxes for people posting dozens of pictures need to be implemented (most sites like this one just use the spoiler tag coding to enable this function). Makes site navigation a lot easier and less cluttered, especially on mobile

The social groups were the only safe bastion away from all the negativity that the forums have been drowning in for awhile now though. Even the appreciation threads have gotten ugly and unpleasant as of late.

    Xenforo! Xenforo! Xenforo!

If it's as I expect... You all should be happy with the result

Xenforo is fast, great for mobile, and notifications kick ass!

Did I miss something? I didn't see anyone mention Xenforo or any other specific forum software mentioned.

I personally can't stand mobile versions of forums, they lack a huge chunk of functionality I'm used to and obfuscate important bits. I hope whichever forum sw it is, there will be an option to render the forum in standard web view on the mobile (which shows just fine on my 5.5" screen).

EDIT: also, I hope the upgrade resolves the issue I have when I connect via 4G on my mobile carrier - apparently all IPs from my mobile carrier are banned.

He is intentionally being coy and not saying. But it's the natural progression for a vbull site as it offs direct migration and offers the least radical change. (And the feature discussion is in line with xenforo 's features). There are other modern alternatives as well... But this is a pretty big site and well established so continuity would be a huge value.

Xenforo offers reflexive design so it works very well on mobile with very little delta from the desktop experience. One of its lead features... That and it's the team that built the original vbulletin before it was sold and went to crap :)

Having played a very small role in all this, all I can say is everyone should be super excited for the forthcoming changes. The boss has worked very hard on all this, and I am really pumped to move into our new home!
