I could not believe this when I heard it on the news...Terrible, absolutely terrible... Man charged with trying to attack Dutch royal family after 4 die - CNN.com
Yeah it was pretty crazy. It's easy to say that this was a 'small scale' thing or something like that..truth is of course every wounded or killed person is one too many. Especially in the Netherlands - normally we are a relatively easy-going cute little country without alot of the bad stuff going on in other countries, but lately things seem to change into wild-west scenes. I understand the random killing of police officers, school shootings, daylight bankrobberies and car chasings and all those hijinks have become relatively normal for a big country such as the US of A, we've been going without for a pretty long time and it's sad to see our country is slowly evolving into the shitz as well. Bystanders. He didn't get to the bus with the royal family..he rammed his car through a blockade, smashed through a horde of people and when the driver, in beaten up car, heavily bleeding, noticed he couldn't make it to the bus anymore, smashed his car into a nearby monument. It was a terrible plan, if there ever was any, because if he tried to go for the royal family, he failed horribly at that. Also, he was driving a small car and I think the bus of the royal family was a big tourbus ( the one with an open roof for you to stand on)..just exactly WHAT damage did he think he was gonna do? My guess it's a person with heavy personal issues..definitely wasn't a well thought-out plan to kill the royal family. I've seen the footage, it's pretty horrible..you see people flying a bit through the air, and NONE of the victims is moving once they hit the ground..fucking terrible to see.
Sorry, I'll try to rephrase..not meaning these are 'normal' and don't make an impact anymore, but certainly we can agree that these kinda things do happen more often over there? At least, I've read alot about those kind of situations.
Its a bit too graphic to keep- TFW Staff Which would mean that there's more shit going on than I think..even in the USA. The Netherlands really are a small country. I in no way deny that bad stuff doesn't happen here behind the scenes, but I reckon it's much easier to dig up all the facts over here than it is in bigger countries. Seriously, if there is a single gunshot fired in the northest part of our country, chance is big they already know it in the far south within the next two hours. Get your world map out and see just how itty bitty tiny we are. Anyway, I think this is slightly derailing the thread, so let's get back to what it's all about...
this guy likely needs a psycholgical evaluation to make sure he isn't off his rocker , but either way what sad and pointless deaths
It's truly sad that some complete, utter, moron had to ruin such a joyful day in your country. I feel for the families of those killed.
Just saw the news, fifth death confirmed, 3 people left in critical condition. The driver, a 38 year old man, is in critical condition as well, though he still managed to tell a cop that he wanted to make a "statement about the monarchy". The police searched his house and found no explosives, but appearantly he was just renting the place and not actually living there. They now suspect that he is involved with some kind of cell, though it's too early to tell if they are right.
I would be a bit surprised if he was actually part of a bigger group, because if that was the case, I think one could do a much 'better' job of attacking the royal family. To me it seems like one batshit crazy social outcast..but I'm just speculating of course...
Who knows what's going on...It's mostly hearsay now, like how the guy is braindead...I hope that isn't true, because this asshole has to pay for what he did.
D8 Not cool, crazy dude. People don't have to die because you're a wackjob who doesn't like monarchy.
