so as my wife was leaving for work today she says "there's a ladybug inside the house can you take it outside?" and she leaves. so i go to the door thinking ok i'll just shoo out this ladybug, but then when i looked there wasn't just 1 ladybug. there were like 12 of them all over the window!! then i opened the door and maybe another 10 crawled out from the crack between the window and the door! i've never seen such a thing in my life! i took a couple of pictures but it was way too hard to see them all because they were on the window and it's a really sunny day out today. i did get them all outside though... my cat even ate a few when they tried to fly away. any other bugs i would've just swatted but i don't have the heart to kill ladybugs. i've never seen anything like that. i called my mom and told her and she's never heard of it either. some were spotted and some weren't.

i mean as cute as ladybugs are, seeing 20-30 of them crawling around makes them start to look like any other creepy little bug.

You think that's a lot? Go to Mt. St. Helens where almost everyday they have a different swarm of insects. Well not "swarm" but more of a huge infestation. The last time I went there they had hundreds of thousands ladybugs all over the place. The only place they were not at was inside cause it got un-nerving after walking on so many ladybugs.

they go away, eventually. the ceiling is like 20 ft up, so it's not as gross/interfering as you would think.

Some nursery's sell them in lots of 100(s) as they are Insectivores (they only eat other insects) maybe your neighbor bought a whack to help control Aphids etc. for their garden/plants/flowers.

I read somewhere that they hide in houses or window crack when they feel cold.

    Japanese Box Beetles.

They don't 'do' anything inside, but if you have a hole they will come inside when it is cold. Inside they basically fly around until they die.

Weatherstripping, seal the entry way and they won't come in anymore. Just find out how they are getting in.

Most states it is illegal to trap/poison them and exterminators won't actually do anything about them.

They are annoying and suck and leave nasty little crunchy corpses everywhere.

Native-American legends (or folklore, whatever) say that Spider's are good luck and shouldn't kill them. Honestly, they, along with every other insect (specified as such or simply related) scare the bejesus out of me. I've currently got a infestation of flies running about my house, their point of origin unknown. I suspect something next door to me just died, hence their presence.
