   i'm trying to start a new thread in the fan art section but it won't let me and it's saying i need some sort of attachment. what is the required attachment?

   You need to upload your art using the board software - there should be an option below the post button called manage attachments which you can use. It's so your thread gets a preview thumbnail in the index.
