That's friggin cool. Though at some point, we're going to be getting notices like this every day.
Where's the inside scoop now, eyeballkid??
Oooh! Brown dwarfs! I didn't know anyone'd found any of those yet.
(I wanted to say "brown dwarves" but I realised that pluralisation is only for Tolkein dwarves... not massive nonfusing balls of hydrogen.)
YAY!! More balls of gas and/or dirt we will never set foot on.
Maybe not today. But in the future, who knows.
And I can't wait until one of those balls of dirt has life on it. I want to see all of you bible thumpers freak out.
They won't freak out, they'll refuse to accept it, act like it doesn't exist.
But that's all I'm going to say about that...
It is not every day that one gets permission to spend the night at wipple observatory and hang out with astronomers!
Anyway...Go astronomers! Find more!
I met with a guy from cambridge up there on the mountain observing a long list of stars looking for wobbles. Data collected that night is later analized back at the lab...fun...but slow work. That is how these planets are being found. (as if you guys didnt know)
dibs on number 17. i wanna name it..."Planet KA".
cue.....something overture, you know, the one that play to announce the monolith in the 2001 movies.
edit: also, the name wipple observatory has a certain visceral quality to it that i cant put my finger on.
KA cant put his figer on a nipple! You started it!
You know, I almost never do this, but... QFT.
