He's just adding to our space debris defense wall. Those ufo invaders will have to navigate through an asteroid field made of trash, Han Solo style before getting to us.

That's one small step for man, one giant leap backwards towards dismissing the stereotype that woman are bad with tools. :lol :lol :lol

    She's. Female Astronaut.

I had a good laugh at the video, clearly she was expecting it to stay tethered, but she literally tosses the satchel away from the ISS. Then you see it hanging there out of reach and very slowly drifting further away as she calls in to explain that the tools just got away from her.

You'd think they'd have a small grapple/piton gun that they could fire out to retrieve any items cast adrift.

Eh, mistakes happen. Though, in space mistakes can be extremely costly.

Why was she on a spacewalk instead of inside the shuttle getting a freeze-dried meal ready for the other astronauts? Oh, gotta go, my wife's calling me. :p

All kidding aside, that stinks... you know she's one of the most highly-trained technicians in the space program; it's got to be incredibly frustrating for her to have made a mistake like that. I read somewhere the value of the tools in the bag was around $100K.

    What about this?

4/5 or less of the people on this board wouldn't even be able to get halfway through the training these guys go through. They are also hand picked from 1000's of applicants. Every one of us makes stupid mistakes every day, it's just not broadcast on the international news. I'd have this woman getting my back before someone on the internet typing ZOMG LULZ FAILZ!!!11

Yeah... "Uh, Houston? Tools are lost in space, I repeat, tools are lost in space."

Seriously... NASA has picked some real winners.
