    Hi
I'm thinking of buying an AstroMagnum Shockwave, but would like to have the pre Transformers one, no the bootleged. Is there anyway to know that it isn't a botleg?  And are there any differences between Astro Magnum ad Shackwave? In quality that is. Thanks! :)

Quality wise, it's the same plastic and whatnot.

Your best bet to see if it isn't a bootleg is to check for the stamp - Astromagnum is by ToyCo and will have that clearly marked on it. He's also dark gray, instead of purple like Shockwave (or several of the other colors that I've seen for KOs).

If you're going for MISB, as far as I know, there have never been KO boxes made for Shockwave (I may be mistaken on this).

This page may help you, as well.

Not true, the KO is the exact same quality as the original. The only difference I know of is the KO has a pinkish looking light areas versus the clear on the original.

That's my Astro Magnum KO. And it is all plastic. Also, the moulding quality is far inferior to the original. (The Decepticon symbol is a Reprolabel, by the way)
I believe there is also a version with diecast, but I am not sure.

Never saw that one before. The one I had was made in the 70s and was dicast. It looked almost exactly like the original. Even came in a box that said Astro-Magnum. The only difference was the toystamp.
Here is a pic of my old one.

Yeah, I have two KO's (I think they were sold in Radio Shack back in the eighties) and they definitely have diecast - I guess there are two KO versions - with and without diecast.

The ones I have are great quality, arguably the same quality as the G1 purple versions I have.

Cro, the one sold in Radio Shack isn't a KO... not at all. "Shackwave" is as legit as Shocky himself.

this is the same one I have (I bought it assuming it was a legit Shockwave. The seller's picture was too small and dark to tell the difference. Plus it was my first ebay purchase so I was a noob at the time). Since I dont own the G1 Shocky, I cant really say how inferior the molding is. I thought the plastic was pretty good quality as far as KOs go (although there is a stress mark on the left hip). Rubber hose is also in good shape

It seems Zero Prime has the original Astro Magnum and posted photos earlier in this topic.
