total props for using this mold as a prime goes to fellow member blacklion29.
it is a commission for another fellow member who really liked the idea blacklion29 came up with but wanted to see my take on it.
i changed up the paint scheme to help differentiate it,and i kept the stock drift head.the head itself has been cut, sanded and whittled down to have a battlemask and more characteristically "prime" styled antenna's/ear things.
as a extra,i also modded the inside of his flip open chest to now reveal a matrix of leadership.
the materials used for the matrix are a small bead from wifey's beading box and a reshaped paperclip.
his big sword has had a red wash to help highlight the characters molded into the blade.

up next is first clearcoat, then onto vehicle stripes and small details and touch ups, then i'll take some alt mode pics.

Cool. I like the idea of Prime having the Matrix always on display through the window.

What would be nice for a Prime repaint of this mold is some "smokestacks" added to the bottom of the doors so that they're lining the sides of the car in vehicle mode and hanging off the top of the sword sheaths in robot mode.

Very nice. I love what you did with the head. It's really Prime, but also not Prime at the same time. It fits the motif better.

chansformers, I always enjoy your work, and I think you did a great job on this. I really like the head and the other Prime elements you incorporated in with this one :thumb

like i said though, even though i put my own spin on this bot,the original idea came from blacklion29's first version of "samurai prime.:)

    Me = stoked.

    :D

Just to set the record straight, I had the idea of turning Drift into Prime (and Darkmount into Megatron) the minute I got them, well before seeing blacklion29's version, but Otis was my man for the job from the beginning. It was just a matter of time. :)

Knowing Chans like I do, I'll bet that's vinyl & not stickers or waterslide decals.

what n/p said, except for the autobot logos, everything is hand cut automotive vinyl, sealed in with clearcoat.the logos/symbols are "edge" printed, then hand cut.

    thanks mang!
i was torn on what to do with the sides to help break up the red,but i'm pretty happy with how it turned out in the end:)

you know me too well bro:wink:
i prefer vinyl over waterslide and stickers, mostly because you can "heat-form" it to damn near almost any surface except porous surfaces.even then, you "can" if you know how vinyl works and you have time and patience.

    thanks mang!!!

    lolz!!!
i should bash up a classics cliffy trailer and turn him into assassin "wingblade" prime:D

Well I worked on Vinyl for real-cars... so how do you print them?
Do you have a device yourself? since there was a company around my place, than had a minimum of A4/Letter sized and it cost pretty much :(

    Anymore tips...

PS.: I could always print Autobot/Decepticon symbols in bulk on the unused space left, if I did order some by that specific company

Wow.. If you could make an extra spoilerkit turn into a wingblade mode, that would be sick!!
