hey fellow bashers. not much of a poster here, but friend of mine Shadow Panther is INSISTING i post some pix of my modded Sidearm. its nothing mind-blowing. i was just a bit disappointed in the lack of Sidearm's articulation. so, i gave him some. he now has ball-jointed shoulders and knees, and his head turns. (i tried for double-jointed knees, but it wasnt working well, so i glued it in there, and just went for the ball joint) i also removed his 2 gun posts(hated the 1 on his head), and made 1 gun post on his back. still transforms the same, and nothing really hinders either mode. being the perfectionist i am, i see the resolution in the pics and cringe a bit. but its not bad looking at all in real life. oh well, enough obsessing. here ya go:

Nice job, I always approve of articulated minibots (as my Gunslinger figs will attest :p ). Actually, I got the impression that Sidearm was reasonably well articulated in the first place, but I've never seen it in person to determine that. What was the articulation like beforehand?

This is what he should have been when we got him. I probubly wont go the distance and do this to mine but, who knows.
The knees are the main add. His legs are one solid piece for the most part. also the ballgointed arms. befor the were just hinged. I really wish that I had the gumption to try this. Maybe some day.

    Hey Sir!
Got mine in hand & i can give you a rundown of his articulation:

    Shoulders- 360% pivot rotation
Elbows- 90% pivot rotation upwards ( minimal backwards rotation)
    Head-0% rotation
Hips- Ball jointed with pretty good poseability for his size
waist-90% pivot ( mainly for gun mode)
Chest-90% pivot for each shoulder (again, mainly for gun mode )
Knees-0% pivot ( legs are a solid piece from thighs to feet )

Overall, he's not bad as-is outta the bag, but POSSESSED_DIGIT here did a darn fine job of beefing up his poseablilty! KUDOS to you sir! :thumbs2:

    Hope that helps some! :D

    Cheers!

Ah, so basically the same robot mode articulation as Universe Nightstick (save for the balljointed hips), plus transformation joints?

tutorial? heh heh heh. im pretty free-lance: i just start bashing, & cutting, & melting, & gluing, & bleeding...

seriously, here's what i did: i took apart Sidearm (BTW, he's got a screw in him holding the chest together - found out the hard way oops!). then i replaced the chest rotation bits that connect to the arms with the ball joints and hinge from minicon Blight($4 at family dollar) . then, i reshaped & molded the shoulder hinges to support a ball joint. next, i cut his legs off, and used another set of those ball joints from another Blight. i tried for the double hinge, but the way i cut things, the legs were too thin to support the hinge. but the ball joint was fine. then i shaped, molded the lower legs for the ball joint. next i cut off the gun posts, and decapitated him. then i took a metal pin & used it for a head rotation joint. finally, i added a new gun post to his back. (oh, & i re-shaped Hot Rod's fist holes to hold larger diameter weapons.) thats pretty much it. any more questions, feel free to ask...
