This would seem like a totally random choice to articulate and yeah well it kind of is. Well anyway it's a work in progress. Already done is the elbows, head/neck, both legs, waist and one hand. Still needs to be beefed up so you can't see the joints and then on to painting. Also, there are a few things that need to be fixed, holes and such. Well check out the first picture....

That's looking mighty hot. What pivot joints are you using for his waist and his elbows?

Great job. I always thought that figure should have been a more poseable one. Now my thought has turned into reality.

    Excellent!!

First of all thanks for the great comments everyone!

I wanted a project to just test all of what I had learnt in the adding of joints on; Rotorstorm it was! I had a few of them lying around in subpar condition and He always looked like he had what it took to shine, but he just needed some attention.

Ops - When I don't use Bionicle parts (Upper legs), I'll just dig into my junker box! The elbows (both ball and socket) were from the Upper arms of TM Cheetor), the head was from the part that connects a bootleg K9 beast head half to his shoulder (I left too much on by accident but he can now do some major head movement) and finally the waist was a combination of styrene and putty with the main part being made from swivelling arm piece from the same KO K9. It also doesn't show it very well in the picture but the hands are on bootleg rattrap arm balljoints so they can move and make menacing poses.

One last thing, this won't be finished for a while since the back part (around the back of the helicopter main piece) is in shambles at the moment since a fair bit had to be cut off to allow the waist to move around. Because of this I need to do some reconstruction and for me that takes a while because sculpting is not my area.

Once again, thanks everyone! Positive comments builds confidence!

Wow, what the hell's with the stickers? :p

Yeah, totally random choice for an upgrade, but man, does it ever seem to be working.

I never bought a Rotorstorm new so these are just random secondhand ones. It looks like the previous owner of the unaltered one read "place on right arm" as "throw it randomly on the chest somewhere".

Yeah, those stickers are placed pretty badly.

I've never seen or heard of this guy, but I'll be damned if this isn't impressive! Seriously, I'm uneasy taking a screwdriver to my TFs, let along adding freakin' joints... you pulled this much off, man. I'm impressed as-is. If you can do more, I wanna see it!

    Not G2. Pre-G2.

Released in Canada and Europe during the US hiatus between G1 and G2.

This was the mold that was neutered (missile launchers stripped of functionality) for release as Machine Wars Sandstorm, and later repainted again, with functionality partially restored (different, non-complementary missiles, taken from Energon Omega Supreme's missile molds), as Universe Whirl.

Makes me cry, knowing I had all of the turbomasters (that was their name, yeah?) and predators, and now I dunno where the crap they all are (well, except thunderclash :( )...

Nice job, anyway. That was the only thing that really bugged me about Rotorstorm, his leg articulation.

Here's a quick picture to show the slightly altered colour scheme I'll be using on him.

Only the arm and arm panelly thing is painted at this point (other parts drying)

    Basically I'll be doing...
    Head - Unaltered
All previously light blue parts - Just a shinier lighter blue
New Waist - Metallic Dark Blue
    Upper Legs - Light Blue
    Forearms - Metallic Dark Blue
    Chest - No clue
    Lower Legs - Metallic Blue
    Feet the same

Thank you! I was trying to figure out where Universe Whirl got his missles from. It's always so cool to learn something new about your own collection!
