This one started as a TRU reissue G1 Grapple, I scratch built hinges for his knees, and shoulders, gave his feet a little more movement, and put his hips, and head on balljionts. His stickers got a little messed up on his legs , so I have a set coming from Reprolabels. As always, he still transforms.
His knees are. But i did have a hard time posing him with them bent all the way, hes kinda back heavy with that grapple arm.
that is truly awesome man. great job! If I knew the first thing about articulating i might try it, but i fear all i would do is ruin the figure and be left with a plastic scrap heap.
Now THIS is what i have expected HASBRO/TAKARA to do for the last 5 years , instead of making new versions of the toys tha we all have loved simply make the originals poseable, man keep going and please give us tutorials, please do a Prime and a Megatron!!!
That's what junkers are for! Fantastic work as usual, Ed! I do notice, though, that you've repainted some of the former chromed areas with a flat grey (like the crane hook, for instance). I'd recommend getting hold of some Alclad chrome lacquer (here's a discussion thread on the stuff) to really bring back the look of the original toy. You've done so much to improve the fig while keeping its original look, that it seems a shame not to go the whole hog and restore the chrome.
Actually there is no paint apps, the TRU reissue has chromeless hook, and grapple arm upright. The figure is mint, becides the theigh and foot stickers I had to remove and reapply, but i ordered another set from Reprolabels. Man, I have to try that chrome paint, it looks great, there are a few figures that I own that could use some restoration, thanks!
Ah, of course. I forgot those reissues often have black missiles and guns, and the like. Talk about cheaping out. And you're welcome. Stuff like that, I think it's really worth spreading the word about, as it's a unique product as far as I know - I've never seen anything else that produce that kind of quality. People need to know about these things.
Honestly... do you ever get tired of being this awesome? I love these! Just thinking about what you've done here and how great they turned out, makes me look with scorn on my Hasbro Classics. Well... at least a little bit. zmog
You gave my boy Grapple joints...freakin sweet...!!! Man it's tempting to try this...keep up the great work...
Wow man. Pure beautifulness on all of these! Forget Classics, gimmie turboedguys customs any freakin day!!
