Art copyright question

    Im wanting to use digilaut's character art in my digibash but he no longer uses tfw. Am i allowed to use his art or am i forbiden?

    Yes, you would need to get permission from an artist to use their work if you intend on publishing your digibash in any way. If you are only using it for your own [non-profit] purposes with no intent to share, there's not much harm done there.

    I'm sure somebody here must still be in contact with him. But if not and it's a not for profit venture then at least make sure to credit him for whatever you use.

    Even if it's not for profit, you shouldn't do it without his permission. That's HIS art. Don't use it for anything without his permission.

    Unless of course he has specifically published his art under a Creative Commons/Copyleft/similar license.

    well there is something called the fair use doctrine. if you were somehow commenting on, critiquing, or doing a parody of the work, in most cases it is ok. but a digibash would most likely be a derivative work and is therefore barred by copyright.
