Is this a uniquely TF fandom trait, or does every other fandom think they can handle properties more effectively than multinational conglomerates?

Not saying Hasbro is perfect and any criticisms against them are wrong, but I will say this; my job involves performing tax compliance and giving tax advice to very large companies. This requires me to be intimately familiar with their business and grants me access to documents such as detailed profit and loss accounts. Even with all this, I doubt I am in any position to run their businesses at any level approaching competence.

Oh no, I don't believe it's isolated to Transformers in any, way shape or form.

In any fandom, there are always the loudmouths, with no experience or frame of reference, that KNOW with every fiber of their being that they can do a much better job than the CEO/band/manager/etc. that isn't doing things according to their personal wishes.

It just comes with the territory. That's why we have the "ignore" list :D

I don't think it's unique to the Transformers Fandom. It certainly is annoying as hell when there are clearly members here that think they can run Hasbro better.

Of course. I thought this was a given? We're all smarter than business savvy execs. ;)  But no, I really can't see it being limited to the TF fandom.

*watches you both from my binoculars*

    Yes...yes...

Does it really matter? People can suggest how they feel things could be improved. It's not like Hasbro will ever take any notice unless they're actually part of the company.
You have the people that claim something will or won't work and then you have the people that claim the first person knows nothing of how a business is run and that their idea will or won't work. The self-important think-they-know-it-alls that feel they have to come in and correct everyone irks me. Impart the correction (if they actually have it) without the smug attitude.

The worst that happens with these things is they might not be an interesting thread to read. People will always suggest how they think things can be improved. It's the way of the world. Better to dream those dreams of betterment in something you follow.

Besides, for all we know the owner of Bandai or a similar company is a member here and is posting how they reckon Hasbro could do things better. The Armchair Exec could actually be a real high level exec.

the previous statement was copied & pasted directly from a friends facebook page. It's not just TF fans. They are everywhere!

Oh yeah, it's definitely not just Transformers. I live in SEC country and all you need to do is go to a restaurant the morning after a big game and listen to the "I woulda's" and "they shoulda's", regardless if we won or lost.

Yeah, you see it a whole lot in sports circles. Worse than us at times.

Videogames too, and manga, anime, comics, movies... it's everywhere. Some places it is far more obvious than others, but yes, if it exists, there is someone else who thinks they can run it so much better.

Wrestling fans are (almost) as critical as Transfans.

I used to be in with that crowd really deep.

As a Gator fan...I am so guilty of this it's not funny. But take heart, it's pretty much all sports I think. All fans are capable of "seeing" things that the head coach and coordinators are "obviously" ignorant of :D  Living in the middle of Texas, you ought to see what goes on with UT and Cowboys fans...

Wrestling fans are just as bad. Everyone's a booker, and everyone knows just how to get the flavor of the week over :lol

In every fandom (and I mean every one, from Car Companies to Sports teams) there are people who think they can run the brand better.

In the case of MOTUC, it's actually true.

Oh no....it's the same in all fandoms. Even in fanclubs of bands. Fans think they can make better decisions in "their bands" interest... As a matter of fact, it's the fans that turn me off to something faster than anything else.

I believe I can run the OP's thread better than he can.

(I'm not being a dick. It's just a lame messageboard joke based on the thread topic)

Because we all know executives are infallible. That's why we drink New Coke on the way to KB Toys in our 2005 Camaros to buy something we saw on our Windows ME computers.

    Infallible? No.

In a much better position and with the knowledge base required to make a more informed decision than the average joe? Definitely.
