Which was your favorite Earth threatening comet movie?

    Armageddon or Deep Impact?
Both seemed to be near images of each other. Both came about the same year I think, correct me if I'm wrong.
    Both dealt with life-extinction events.
Both very good special effects and drama.

    Here's my view.
Armageddon seemed more sci-fi, more drama, and more action/adventure.

Deep Impact seemed a little more realistic, different kind of drama, and more emotional.

    Both had descent actors.

Which did you like better and why?

    Armageddon.

You didn't have to worry about how it was going to effect the planet because they stopped it prior. Deep Impact seemed, to me, like "Armageddon lite" ... on budget, story, and special effects.

    I just love Armageddon though.

Damn, Deep Impact was just on TBS today.

I like both of them... but Armageddon might get my vote by just a hair.

Deep Impact was more scientifically accurate, and IMO had better subplots and character arcs, and a more realistic interpration of the events, I believe. Plus, huge points go to casting Morgan Freeman as the President. Man's a legend.

Armageddon was more fun, however, and they actually stopped the comet. I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing is now classic, and I get lots of nostalgia watching it. It was funnier, but with some kinda crappy acting and plot. No real emotion, and the daughter can't act, and is just there to be pretty (Megan Fox of Armageddon). Hell, it could be seen as the ROTF of 1998 or 99. A lot of fun, but no real heart and a visual, explosive full-scale assault on you. But the nostalgia wins me over, and it's more memorable and resonating with me then Deep Impact, even though Impact's still a great movie.

Been a while since I saw either.. longer for Deep Impact.

I prefer Armageddon myself. Lots of action and fun (like a good Michael Bay movie should). Plus humanity wins!

Deep Impact is more drama and stuffy. Comet hits and now east coast is flooded and everyone has to move west of the rockies. Meh.

    Deep Impact, plz.

More emotion, better characters, etc. I found Armageddon incredibly annoying.

Armageddon. Better music, fucking Harry Stampper, and an awesome feeling of "fuck yeah!" Deep Impact was incredibly boring dunno why, but I never saw the entire movie, I ended up changing the channel because the movie looked boring as shit.

Armageddon by a country mile - I could tell exactly how Deep Impact would end as soon as it was pointed out that the shuttle had some left-over nukes. That and Tea Leoni annoys the hell out of me.

I always liked deep impact better. I could never wrap my head around the whole sending roughnecks up into space to drill an asteroid. It seemd more like a movie about oil drillers than an doomsday flick about asteroids.

I always liked Armageddon, if just for the fact it's the rare disaster film in where the human race actually do something about it. I find that to be a lot more entertaining then watching people panic and cry about it.
Sure, it's unrealistic, but then that's why we watch films like that. To forget how hopless real life is.

Deep Impact is just mello dramatic garbage. Even Morgan Freeman couldn't save that depressing piece of shit.

I was only asking about Armageddon and Deep Impact. Please don't bring in other movies even if it does share the same plot.
Yes Deep Impact was a tad more boring, but that's because I think it was more realistic than Arm.
Plus hey, Deep Impact had Red Forman! :)

Out of the two, I'd take Deep Impact any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Deep Impact was, as stated before, more scientifically accurate, and since I like property damage it has plenty...

Armageddon, aside from Bruce Willis' fairly good Harry Stamper was such a cliche'd suckfest that by the end I was cheering for the ASTEROID. It was so predictable that before the opening credits were through, you knew that the good guys were gonna win, and I just enjoy more when the good guys fail. It's more honest intellectually, not having the good guys win EVERY time. Sometimes they f**K up and the world get destroyed.......

Arnageddon, hands down. The combination of the humour and Bruce Willis's epic acting makes it a awesome movie. I've never seen Deep Impact.

Deep Impact. More realistic of what would happen & better story.

Arnageddon for more outright goofy fun. Its one of those movies that defines "man's movie" When I first saw it, it annoyed the crap out of me but I like it much better in later viewings. I still question the bit about them only needing to drill a few hundred feet. They said it was the size of Texas. Unless I'm wrong, Texes is a whole lot larger than a few hundred feet.

I prefer Deep Impact, aside from the silly motor cycle escape at the end.

Armageddon had too many plot conveniences for my taste. However it is fun to turn off my brain and watch on occasion.

Seem's like half/half. I should've done a poll on this one, but I have the feeling it would be 50-50.

Armageddon was no doubt action-packed. But just to sci-fi.
