I've been trimming down the trailer quite a bit, remove the ugly threads...
I already think it's better than original, but wondering how to go from here...

I love primes, but I'm not sure to articulate this sucka

O well we'll see next week when I continue the work :p

(any tips or threads from people who did manage to articulate this one?)

EXTRA ADDED YOUTUBE CUSTOM VIDEO REVIEW:
YouTube - Transformers Custom Armada Prime Powered Convoy

    UPDATE:
    Massive improvements, better pics tomorrow!

    UPDATE2:
Again big changes, by modding I can now slide/click/attach the trailer wheel to the back of the legpanels, which makes them thicker and the whole upper body less heavy... only thing left is removing all the electrics in the red-cab then I know for sure I did enough weight reduction for it to stand unsupported. Also All parts are incorporated in the design and nothing gets left behind :D  (next stop, weigh reductions + painting only some minor parts)

    UPDATE3:
completed! Decided not to work on this anymore, I'm satisfied to the point of not wanting to sell it anymore :D  hehe it's that perfect!!! ;)
Added some extra pics and make a video review: YouTube - Transformers Custom Armada Prime Powered Convoy
But I will tell you guys a secret I'll be upgrading this with a Armada jetfire to make that APEX upgrade available!
I might even add (if there's a tiny chance if I find a cheap one) an overload to :p

    How to articulate the thing:

    1. Get black bathrobe.
    2. Get candles.
    3. Starting chanting.
    4. Make pact with devil.
    5. ???
    6. Profit!

Good luck with this bro, but I can think of any method other than the above for articulating that thing.

by the looks of it, articulation will required surgery. (takes a chainsaw out)

Now Mr. Prime, this won't hurt a bit..........not to me at least.

I think it looks 1000 times better already. But to articulate, another haunting question. what about RID Magnus trailer parts?

What about cybertron metroplex for leg parts? about the right size (if memory serves me correctly). You'd have to scrap the whole "inside out" way that the trailer makes the legs. start by thinkinhg that and i'm sure there is a way.

I'm also assuming that you want to make the cab connect the same in combined mode, and to keep the overall look the same. You're also not wanting to have the same base mode correct?

Hahahaha :D  Yeah I'm gonna think real hard, but chances are indeed slim :(

Hmm do have 1 last spare RID magnus, but wanted to use connectors for Predaking *sigh*

yeah the more I look at it... the more it realy gets that optimus vibe!!
I do also have 1 last Cyb.M.PLex but I was kinda hoping to eventually use it for a dinocombiner, but I'll dig through my stuff and see what I have left :)
No the base mode doesn't really have to survive ,bot I gues using the existing combinerports seem like a must...
The only way to neglect those if I vould make a wearable armor.... but guess that's even harder and requires serious scratching :D

I was just trying to think of an existing figure to use as a base for joints, and it's the first that came to mind.

yeah, you dont' want to mess with the way they combine. I think thats something that works well for that mold. I was also trying to ask if you were going to use the existing combined mode head. What you have here is basically a new take on powermaster prime, and I think you should run with that idea. I can't believe i've never seen that before.

I think your best bet for articulating the trailer-legs is cutting it into panels and attaching them to a set of pre-articulated legs, then adding the combination plate to the waist. It would sacrifice the whole inside-out thing but I can't see a way to keep that and still have knees. Also, are you planning on doing any mods to the cab? I seem to remember mine's shoulders could only move backwards, so he had trouble pointing his gun at people. Oh, and I love the giant smokestacks, those guns work really well for it! I also love the loss of the treads, I always thought those looked stupid, now he has some nice wheels. :D

Yeah guess that my best option or put the upgrade part inside the trailer and have the leftover parts become something else :)

LOL :D  where do you see a rid magnus trailer :p  heheh
I haven't even used anything but Armada Prime stuff ;)

Thnx for the complement my queen

I like this one too! ( how many projects do you have going at once? lol) As far as articulating the legs on this one the easiest but not cheapest method would be to use a master piece OP figure. There square so attaching flat panels should be easy plus plus it would give him a G1 vibe in combined mode

NP :D  Will continue this project tomorrow! thnx ;)

I already have... many years ago, but it backfired :(

Well every point added is better than default brick :D

    [LOWER TORSO]
    -Waist swivel (easy)
-Hip articulation modify existing or scratch/bash (moderate)
    -Knee articulation scratch/bash (heavy)
-Feet (not really that special and will be optional)
    [UPPER TORSO]
    -Extra head articulation (easy)
-Adding 1point acticulation to either the Shoulder or Elbow? (moderate)
    -Hands optional (heavy)

    -Classics Arcee (awaiting paint stage)
    -Energon Thrust (awaiting paint stage)
-WFC Starscream Voyager (waiting for inspiration)
-Predaking (awaiting combiner parts/joints + centre piece)
-Superion (debating on getting a second cybertron jet mold)
-Classics Ultra Magnus 2.0 (awaiting cash or help!)

So far only "Cho Cho train / Astro combo" project is in the CRYO-freezer :(
And this current project will be looked at in the next few days :)

just an idea. the blue hinge on the back, the green in front is a knee pad, the green on the side is the hinge, the blue there is the part the orange peg slides through that, the purple being where the part gets stuck on for articulation. add something to the insides to hide the gaps and ta-da! articulation. you will need to cut along the red line though, and make it so that the part attatches and detatches for transformation *shrugs* its not perfect, but could be a gateway to a knee

oh, and the green circles are attatchment points, and the yellow square is a panel to hide it

thnx for a knee it could work, but I have an idea already... problem is my spare parts box is lacking thick thighs and some of them I can use cuz they are not blocky enough (and I really don't feel like scratch building), the whoel trailer is in pieces now I removed all electric / motor / gears.. It's extremly light and that's what I was going for so I can improve stability in the final phase ;)
